Quaoar – Facts for Kids
50000 Quaoar – a cubewano and probable dwarf planet in the distant icy Kuiper Belt. The number comes from the Minor Planet Center and the name from the creation god of the Tongva people whose ancestors have lived in the Los Angeles area for a thousand years and more.

*Birthday – E E Barnard*
Edward Emerson Barnard, commonly known as E.E. Barnard was born on December 16, 1957 in Nashville, Tennessee. He was a superb observational astronomer and one of only a few people to have a star named for him. Barnard's Star is a low mass red dwarf in the constellation Ophiuchus.

*Mt Wilson*
The Mount Wilson Solar Observatory was founded on December 20, 1904, so it's 111 years old on Sunday.
