Dog days of summer, huh? With the heat wave that's been sweeping the US, I hope everyone's been keeping cool and making sure those tattoos don't get out in the sun too much. When the weather is especially hot, I don't recommend that people get new tattoo work. Not only does the heat add a level of exhaustion to the body, which can make getting a new tattoo really uncomfortable, but having the open wound makes soaking in water a no-no, and then it's that much harder to cool off sometimes. If you were planning on getting some new ink, I'd put it off until things cool down a bit.
The Book of the Month for August is THE WOMAN BETWEEN THE WORLDS. This novel is a mix of science fiction, mystery and horror, colored with Victorian tattooing. Come follow the tale of Vanessa, an invisible woman who wishes to be visible. As the tattooist works on her, he wonders if she actually is a woman, and if he's falling in love...
