September 26 2006 Body Art Newsletter

Greetings, Body Art Fans!

Welcome to the September edition of the Bellaonline Body Art Newsletter.

A chill has started to come into the air here in Seattle, and I know that means it won't be much longer until my tattoos disappear under a layer of fleece, not to be seen again until spring. Did you know that winter is a good time to get tattooed? It's true... People don't get as much sun, or go swimming in the winter, and tattoo artists aren't as busy with folks who've made a snap decision to get some ink. If you've been thinking of that larger inky addition to your skin, now's a good time to go talk with your favorite artist.

Are you a tattoo artist looking for a way to get some more traffic to your web site and tattoo shop? You might want to try making a lens over at Squidoo. I've been playing around there for a few months, and I'm really happy with what's been happening. There's even a fantastic tattoo group, Under Our Skin, which you can join!

Tattoos and Aging
Many people get tattooed without really thinking of what their art will look like in thirty or forty years. Here are some thoughts on tattoos and aging.

Pre-Tattoo and Post-Tattoo Self Care
Make sure to take care of yourself both before and right after you get tattooed. This can help make for a more pleasant experience and consequently better body art.

Dorothy Parker's Elbow
This delightful anthology collects bits and thoughts on tattooing from a variety of writers, both new and old.

  • Tattoo TV with PRISON BREAK - Check out the hottest tattoo on TV with this action drama from FOX
  • Halloween Face Painting - A bit of face paint is one of the best ways to make a quick costume for Halloween. Here are some easy and low-cost costume ideas suitable for kids and adults. Be a skull, vampire or zombie.
  • The Ins and Outs of Body Piercing - The experience of body piercing can run the gamut from a minor fashion adjustment to a deeply spiritual body-reclaiming ritual. Knowing as much as you can about the procedures, healing routines and legal angles before you get anything done can help ensure you have a good piercing experience..

We've also got an online forum all about Body Art that you can visit. It's a great place for discussing the latest developments in body art and getting an answer to any questions you might have. Recent topics include nose piercing keloids, healing tattoos and another Bellaonline editor shared the experience of her very first tatto with the rest of us!

I enjoy your feedback and welcome your questions, so if you have something to tell me, please send an e-mail or drop by the message boards! Feel free to pass this message along to family and friends who you think might be interested.
