Hello,

I have been quite absent from the column and forum throughout 2013 and for the beginning of 2014--including my normal holiday wishes and New Year's greetings. Since I have loyal followers who have inquired, I will share a little of what has gone on. Mid way through 2013, I was scratched by a dog...someone's loyal pet. I never would have guessed that a simple scratch would lead me on an almost 6 month journey of medical issues. I assumed 2013 would end and it would all be put behind. Unfortunately, it carried over into a 2 month hospital stay in 2014. I joked with friends that some people winter in Florida; I wintered at the hospital.

2014 is starting out to be quite a year for many people. Friends in England and across the United States have experienced a variety of medical and financial problems. It is my prayer that springtime is a rebirth of more than the flowers and trees. We need to remember that our God is great. He will provide for us.

I've started keeping a prayer/blessings journal. Sometimes, the blessings are small...others, quite amazing. I find it helps to keep my focused on what God is doing in my life.

My prayers for all of you are for a healthy and prosperous remainder of the year.
