Reader Recipe of the Week:
Vicki’s Valentine Day Sugar Cookies—the easy way!
You will need:
1 to 2 rolls of premade sugar cookie dough
1 rolling pin
2 cans of vanilla icing
Pack of food coloring
Heart shaped cookie cutters
Frosting packs that look like pastry bags, for writing letters on cookies. These are usually found in the bakery isle, and come in all shapes, sizes, and colors.
Steps:
Roll out cookie dough on floured surface.
Let your kids cut out heart shapes (or any shapes will do).
Bake according to directions on roll.
After cookies cool, set up a cookie decorating station.
Place some icing in different bowls around the table, and make each bowl a different color (red, pink, or plain white).
Let your kids ice the cookies, and write Valentine’s messages with the icing packs (kinda like the messages you see on the heart candies)
We’ve used this recipe for years, and it saves a lot of time, but adds fun because you see how creative the kids can get.
