January 6 2010 Editor Assistance Newsletter
It's that time of year where we all think about our goals for 2010! Each January I ask all the editors to send me a message with three things in it:
1) your top goals for yourself as a person
2) your top goals as a writer with BellaOnline
3) any suggestions on how your BellaOnline experience can be easier
By reading through these goals I can help create editor chats, training courses, and other changes to help you reach all of your goals!
Muse about this a bit and when you're ready please send along the lists to me. I will do my very best to help you out in all areas!
Elizabeth, our Distance Learning editor, has done a great job with one of her articles and I wanted to share the kudos!
Read here -
Her title is meaningful, completely keyword-rich with terms people would search on. Remember that cute titles are fine for newspapers, but on the web a page title needs to resonate with meaning.
Her content is helpful, on point, with good examples that help the reader to understand. She has related links so that people interested in this topic will find her other related articles, to keep reading and learning.
If you go out to her main page -
You'll see her description for this article is equally stellar. It reads: "Would you like to develop a sense of community in your online classroom? One of your best tools for doing that is your discussion board." The description is written in an "active" sense (i.e. not saying "this article will .... which would be passive). It draws the reader in and gets them to click.
Great job, Elizabeth!
