November 19 2010 Editor Assistance Newsletter
Just a reminder for our non-US editors that this coming week is "Thanksgiving week" in the US. This means many editors and managers will be on vacation. Please be patient with any email messages you send during this time!
I've just reinstalled my mapping software, exported all the editor data, and created a fresh new set of editor maps! These maps are GREAT fun to look at. We now have editors in nearly every US state, as well as many other countries as well!
If you're interested in who is near you, feel free to post your location in the Editor Forums, and find out who your neighbors are!
One main reason we generate the editor maps is to figure out where to have our next annual gathering! You can see the editor maps overlaid with the gathering locations here -
Our gathering in 2010 was in Chicago, and it's time to start planning near year's gathering! The European editors have been heavily lobbying for another European gathering as well, so we will try for two in 2010 - one in the US, and one in Europe!
So first, please take a look at the two maps on the meetings page. They show where our editors are and where we've had gatherings so far.
At our Chicago gathering, there was a lot of interest in holding the 2011 gathering in San Diego. That city has a big editor concentration, and it's a destination that many people wanted to see. Boston was also mentioned for the same reasons. So were a few other cities. Please respond back with where you'd like to go in 2011, and I'll tally up the votes!
At our Dover gathering, there was strong interest in London being the next location of a gathering. Even though Dover was "central", it seemed pretty much all editors would rather hang out in London for a weekend :) We are open to other ideas as well! Please email back with your preferred European location.
The next step will be to form "Gathering Teams" who start figuring out date ranges that are best for the locations (based on weather and other factors), letting editors vote on a specific weekend, and then start looking into hotels and attractions. If you are interested in being on either Gathering Team, please let me know so I can help put those together!
BellaOnline gatherings are a *ton* of fun and are full of great information, seminars, brainstorming, and support. I look forward to our 2011 gatherings being our best ever!
