February 1 2010 Editor Assistance Newsletter

Greetings, everyone!

A reminder! We have a fun editor chat starting tonight, Monday Feb 1st, at 9pm EST! That's in about 2 hours. The chat link is on the center of your admin menu, and the logon is the EXACT same as to the forums. If you've forgotten your forum logon, use the "lost my password" there to track it down!

If you can't make it, we always posts logs for you to look at later on.

We'll be talking about all aspects of distance education, as well as goal setting, priority management, and anything else you need help with!

The Mused deadline is Thu Feb 4th - make sure you submit your items in by then to be considered for the Spring issue! We especially need photos, artwork and short plays. If you've never tried writing a play or skit, this might be a fun time to start!

We are also looking for some help reviewing poetry. If you enjoy reading poetry and would love to add a new item onto your resume, let me know! It's very low stress and we really help our poets grow and learn with our feedback :)

Kim Lynch, our Online Services editor, has done an *awesome* job with her review of "101 Internet Businesses You Can Start". The review is here -

Her title is perfect, making sure people who want to find this information land on her review. The review itself is great. She talks about what parts of the book are valuable and what parts could use some help. This is great both for our visitors, and also for the author when she does a new version!

Kim explains where she got the book, which is important for FTC reasons. She has the link to the book itself at the bottom, with a note about where the link goes to. This is about as perfect a review as we could present!

Great job, Kim!

I know that writing high quality, rounded reviews can be a challenging skill to learn. I'm working on putting together a course for you all to step you through the basics and help you learn this talent! Let me know if you have any suggestions about what should be in the course, and I'll send out a note as soon as it's ready for testing out!

Have a great week :) I hope to see you in 2 hours!
