April 4 2014 Editor Assistance Newsletter
Several editors have asked me for suggestions for getting more reviews for their books. Having a solid block of good reviews is a critical part of building sales for a book. With so many options in our online bookstores, readers use those reviews to help them know which books to choose.
One method I highly recommend, for those who have paperback versions of their books, is to do GoodReads giveaways. These are free to set up and can both get reviews for you and also boost sales.
You can see my giveaway I'm currently running for Aspen Allegations, my first murder mystery novel. The giveaway runs through Sunday.
It's very straightforward. You create the giveaway with the start date, end date, and number of books, and off it goes. When the end date is reached you're told who to send the copies to. Most of those people then post reviews.
I've written step by step instructions on how to do this here -
Normally I'd just email you the instructions but I have screenshots to help you with the process. Emailing screenshots doesn't always work for everyone.
If you currently only have an ebook, I definitely recommend exploring the paperback option. It's free to do, whether you choose CreateSpace, Lulu, or another print-on-demand shop, and it's very easy. I'm happy to help with that, if you'd like to tackle that project.
If you'd like to get some free books for yourself, entering these giveaways might be a fun way to spend a few minutes!
Have a great weekend -
