May 14 2014 Editor Assistance Newsletter
I just added an automated alert into the BellaOnline system. It helps to alert you if you have broken code in your article. You'd only see this if you hand-wrote HTML code such as A HREF within your article, to create external links.
Before, if there was a broken link within an article, the system would just choke and show an error message to the user :). I've been working on improving this.
Now the system does its best to show the article anyway, as least as much as it can, and it emails the editor to let them know there's a problem with that article. That way the editor realizes it's going on and can take a look.
Also, the article add and edit screens now also do this check, to try to catch this problem before it goes live.
Always be sure to check your article in the public view once you've loaded it, just to make sure it looks the way you want it to. Often you don't notice formatting problems until you see it live on the site. You can always see all articles - even forward-dated ones - by going to their specific URL.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Also, if you happen to live near Massachusetts, I'll be doing a live book signing this Friday, May 16th at a local art gallery:
It's from 6-8pm. I'd love to see you there!
Have a great week :).
