We have some fantastic news from Lulu. Lulu is the printing website we use to create our glossy full color print version of Mused. Apparently Lulu screwed up something on our account :) The good news is that they felt so badly about it that they're offering everyone a 15% discount on our latest issue of Mused!
As you know, we offer the print copy of Mused at no profit. We don't make any money at all from Mused sales. The money that's paid is solely the "bare minimum" price Lulu charges to print and ship an issue. So this discount is HUGE! It is coming right from Lulu, and it means the price could never be lower than this. We already have all our BellaOnline "markups" set to zero - we can't go lower than zero :)
You can find the issue here -
If you've always wanted to see how beautiful Mused is in print, this is your opportunity! The coupon is good through August 15th.
If you're a fully launched editor and would like to learn more about working with us on Mused, let me know! We're always eager to help editors learn how we do things!
We all want to learn how to become a better writer, for BellaOnline and for our other projects. Deb Crawford, our SO/HO editor, has written a *great* article on mind mapping. This is a fun technique to help spur your creativity and make writing easier! Take a look -
Give it a try and see if it can become part of your toolkit of techniques!
Editors are always sharing ideas in the forums about how to live frugally and make some extra money. Here are two of our recent ideas!
First, PaperBackSwap.com. This site lets you list your old paperbacks for free. When a visitor asks you to send them one of your books, you get a credit. Now you can ask for ANY book in their gigantic library and you'll get it for free! All you pay is the postage when you send your book out. This is a superb way to clear your house of unwanted books and get an incoming flood of new ones!
Second, Fiverr.com. This site lets you list quick things you'd do for $5 - and hire other people for $5. Lots of people love postcards for example, so you could offer to send a postcard from your hometown for $5. You could find a virtual assistant to help you with some tasks for $5. It's a great way to make easy money, and to get some help for those niggling to-do list items that have been languishing!
Post in the forums if you have other ideas for getting quick cash or for making your life less cluttered!
