Here's the latest articles from the Exotic Pets site at BellaOnline.com. Skunks do NOT carry rabies. This is a dangerous myth. They can become infected with rabies like any other warm-blooded mammal. Cows become infected with rabies more often than dogs, cats, or domestic skunks. The wild skunk helps with rat control keeping disease in check. Skunks control garden pests.

Rats as Pets
Rats make sweet pets. They are excellent beginner pets for children. Especially, kids during the stage where they need a trusted friend. Young children should be supervised around the rat. Rats are a good choice as a pet if you live in an apartment where you can't have a dog, cat, or even a skunk.

About Diana Geiger
I am back! It feels so good to be back as BellaOnline´s Exotic Pet Editor. Exotic pets, regular run of the mill pets, and wildlife have been my passion my entire life. I have been fortunate to have had experienced mentors to help me along the way including exotic pet veterinarians. Though, the more education and experience I have obtained the more I feel I need to learn. I have worked in the exotic pets industry for about forty five years and have been a writer for about twenty years. It was just a natural to combine the two passions.

BellaOnline is nothing short of amazing. I think it is the only place where you will find dedicated people solely interested in sharing their vast repertoire of knowledge and not tied up with commercialism. When I hear the name BellaOnline I know I can hold my head up high and can say I have been an editor (back then it was host and then changed to editor) and am now again an editor.

I am here for you! I am here to answer your questions or to soothe your heartbreak. I am always open to suggestions. If I can´t answer a question I promise you I will find an answer. Subscribe to the Exotic Pets newsletter so that we can stay in touch and you will know when there is something new and exciting! I always love a lively debate in the Exotic Pet forum – come on in, don’t be nervous, kick up your feet and stay a while! Your experience with exotic pets is very important to share. Don’t think that for a moment your experiences are not important enough to contribute!

I hope to hear from you sometime soon, either in the forum or in response to this email message. I thrive on your feedback!

Have fun passing this message along to family and friends, because we all love free knowledge!
