Spring is thinking about springing. This is the time of year I get antsy. Antsy to get outside and plant stuff. I can't wait to get my first sniff of a tomato plant. I look forward to the smell of fresh cut grass. We have had such a mild winter in South Dakota but it is just enough to tease. Pet tip of the week. Why does my cat drool?

Why do cat’s drool when I am petting him or her? This is a common question. If it only occurs during affection it means the cat really loves you. The cat will show affection by rubbing against you, showing her belly to be petted, kneading, and of course purring. This is the ultimate show of love. You can remind your pet to swallow with a light touch to the side of her mouth or by touching her nose.

If the cat drool’s more often it could be a sign of infection in the mouth, or a variety of other serious health problems. If this is the case it is time for a visit to the veterinarian. The cat may also drool before going to the vet. This is a show of anxiety and fear.
