Hey Chefs & Food Enthusiasts!

Love hearing from you guys! This week's article looks at some of the areas you should look at when you're thinking outside of the box and marketing through your local Chamber of Commerce or any of the organizations or mixers you attend. There were quite a few other elements that I could have mentioned in this article, but I'll have to do some follow ups as I see there's an interest; otherwise, this would've been a document as opposed to an article. ;-D

The difference between honing and sharpening?

Honing is done with a steel where the edge of your knifes blade is straightened out resetting/realigning the sharp edge. It needs to be done either before or after each use. My preference is directly after and that way when I'm ready to use it the next time, it's already got its sharp edge on it.

Sharpening actually involves the removal of some of the metal on your knife through grinding away. It only needs to be done 2 - 3 times per year depending on what you're doing with your knives.


- Educate your clientele on the values and benefits of fresh herbs and spices. Their growing knowledge will build on their appreciation for what you do and your indispensability.
