July 21 2014 Wine Newsletter

Hi

The American Wine Society holds its annual conference this year in Concord, North Carolina 30 October - 1 November 2014.

It is the place to experience many tutored tastings of wines from around the world, and I thoroughly enjoy being in the company of so many wine lovers.

I aim to taste as many wines new to me as I can and book on sessions featuring grape varieties and regions new to me, especially US states. I always book sessions on wines from the state the conference is taking place in, and this year I'll be drinking North Carolina's finest.

This year I will be presenting two sessions myself, one on Pinotage and the other on Chenin -- which is the subject of my latest article onthe Wine site at BellaOnline.com.

Chenin Blanc - a versatile grape
Chenin Blanc is a versatile grape that makes attractive wines in many styles. It is currently underrated but it is beginning to get attention, and deservedly so.
