You shouldn't have to be bowling with a ball that hurts your hand. With so many combinations available to him or her, a sharp pro shop professional can, and should be able to, drill a ball that will be both comfortable and practical for you to throw.

It's really surprising how many bowlers don't know much more than. "aim for the second arrow." That's the reason one of the first things I teach my students are the marks on the lane with regard to targeting.

Don't be jumping to spend your way out of a slump by buying up all the products and gadgets out there. What good is brand new equipment if the bowler hasn't learned how to bowl yet?

In the sport of bowling, there are many variables that affect our score. These include such things as, but are not limited to, the weather, type of ball, weight of the ball, and oil patterns. Do I have to mention our individual attitudes, health, and frame of mind?

Too many bowling pro shops nowadays have ball drillers who think they can get away with drilling to their opinionated specifications rather than to their customer's.

She said, "What is he whining about? You know, Choc, nobody ever lives long enough to cry and whine about a simple game." I could only nod my head and agree with her. Life is too short for us to spend it feeling frustrated and stressed out because we shot a low game or low series.

It's a matter of competency - any good ball driller will take the time to explain the bowling ball in depth for you. A little knowledge will go a long way when you go to the pro shop to have work done on it. If they can't explain, how can you expect them to be able to drill your ball well?

Since then, I've noticed that there are an over abundance of people who know "everything there is to know" about bowling and they don't hesitate to give you advice about your game - whether or not you ask them. I never give unsolicited advice even though I am a USBC-certified coach.

One of the first subjects for any of my students is basic bowling ball knowledge and, in particular, "static weights." It is important because bowlers need to understand why their ball doesn't hook, or react, as much as they think it should.
