My name is Clyde Higa and my nickname is "Chocolate," which is shortened to "Choc." I started bowling in 1960 in Hilo, Hawaii. I have won championships and individual honors at the amateur level beginning with the 1966 State of Hawaii Junior Bowling Scratch Singles Championships when I represented Hawaii in the Nationals that were held in Washington, D.C. that year. I graduated from Hilo High School (Class of ´66 Vikings).
During my stint in the U.S. Air Force, I won accolades at the base, all-command, and all-air force levels of competition. I have won two state association all-events awards.
I´ve been involved with the sport of bowling as a league or tournament organizer and promoter, league officer or board of director, and junior bowling coach.
I am currently rated as a USBC Bronze Level coach. I volunteer as the head coach in a senior citizen learn-to-bowl program in Sun City, Arizona and also give private coaching lessons.
I am a member of the USBC Coach´s Association and Bowling Writers Association of America (BWAA). I make my home in Peoria, AZ.
I presently work as a, "Cardholder Services Agent," in the retirement community administrative headquarters - Accounting & Finance.
