Next in the series “Chakra Primer” is the third Chakra. This yellow Chakra is the solar plexus also known as Manipura. Each Chakra is very unique, for example here are some characteristics: associated colors, main issues involved, glands and body parts affected, astrological sign, and sense.
Chakras are energy centers throughout the body each with their own distinct characteristics. There are 7 Chakras running from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. Chakras can be visualized as wheels, vibrating and spinning energy, keeping us, both physically and mentally, in balance.
This week we will study the Solar Plexus Chakra:
•Location: located just above the naval and below the sternum
•It is associated with your : digestive, muscular
•The Solar Plexus Chakra stresses emotional body connections such as: inner state, laughter, self control, anger
•Astrological sign: Aries, Leo
•Forms of healing: Aromatherapy such as lemon, anise, cardamom, myrrh, and frankincense. The Solar Plexus Chakra is the “yellow” chakra and associated with fire. One of the perfect forms of healing is a connection to nature, sunlight, yellow flowers. Try going for a walk on a sunny day. Color therapy – wear yellow to encourage personal power, confidence, happiness and stability. Use crystals and gemstones – hold them in your hands and feel their smoothness; amber, quartz, topaz, aragonite, citrine, golden calcite, yellow sapphire.
•Yoga Poses: Half lord of the fishes; Mountain pose, Boat pose, Cobra, Camel, Cat/Cow
Here are some affirmations that affect the Solar Plexus Chakra. Use these when you meditate and it will help keep your chakras balanced. However, it is important that you believe in yourself and the affirmation.
• I am filled with personal power
• I achieve my goals
• I trust my inner guide
• I respect and love myself
• I believe in my own path
• I have great purpose and passion for life
A Meditation for the Solar Plexus Chakra
•When meditating on the Solar Plexus Chakra try to sit in sunlight or even better outside in the sunlight.
•Close your eyes and lift your face feeling the warmth from the sun.
•Relax your head and neck in a neutral position.
•Take a deep breath and drop your shoulders letting all stress and tension flow out of the body. Do this 2-3 times, until you begin to feel relaxed.
•Bring yourself to a steady even breath.
•Visualize you are sitting somewhere special and the sun is shining on you, such as a park, a stream, a quiet place in nature.
•Ask yourself some questions focusing on your personal power such as:
What is my path?
How can I sustain my divine purpose in life?
How do I spend my days?
What are my gifts?
•Chose one of these questions or one of your own and give it over to your mind.
•Now, your task is to listen. You may not get an answer right away or even in the way you imagine, but tell yourself you have purpose, passion, and power and believe in it.
•Continue to think about your faith in yourself and hold it close to your heart.
•When you are done open your eyes, smile, breathe, and go slowly.
