My name is Phyllis and I will be your editor for this site. I love writing, researching and reading folklore. Delving into folklore as much as I can has brought a world of fantastic, wondrous and scary stories into my life. To pass these delightful tales and information on to my readers will truly be a joy for me. I write as often as I can. I have taken English Literature, Creative Writing and many art classes in college and this has helped to increase my passion for creativity which I fulfill in my writing and drawing.
I invite you to come join my site that will be full of legendary heroes, heroines, ghosts, witches, faeries, elves, giants, all those wonderful, tricky and delightful characters we grew up with. Folklore tells the story of our country and other countries, from the viewpoint of the folks in small communties. It gives us the culture and superstitions and remedies from verbal tellings handed down for generations.
My father was one of the greatest and most creative storytellers I have ever known. Since I was just knee-high to a grasshopper I can remember sitting on the floor and waiting to find out what tale he had for us kids to take to bed and dream about. He often told us familiar tales that have been known for ages, but mostly he made up his own stories and to me those were the most intriguing. Like the mountain lady who threatened to "pickle him and add him to the jars of preserves in her cellar" if he did not marry her. I learned from my father how to tell and write stories. Thanks to him, the love of folklore was instilled in me at an early age.
I loved to tell my children stories, then my grandchildren. Now here I am, doing what I love best - sharing with you some of the best-loved and famous tales of American and World-wide folklore. I welcome your feedback on all my articles and hope you will join me in my forum for chats and discussions.
