About the BellaOnline Folklore and Mythology Editor

From the time that I learned to read, I have always loved folklore. Disney brought me The Sword in the Stone, and I went from there to the Greek and Roman myths and to the fantasy genre. In college, I went back to King Arthur, reading the 1485 version for the first time; this was also when I first encountered Beowulf and the original version of famous fairy tales. Since then, my world view has widened out to include the rest of Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and the Americas - truly, every part of the world has its important tales that entertain children but also influence the local culture and customs.

I earned my Ph.D. in Education in 1999, and since then I have continued to read and study the mythology and folklore of the world. During that time, I taught high school English, retiring in June of 2017. Today, I have the time to continue my study of the world´s tales and teaching stories, ranging from the incredible pantheons of various areas to the urban legends that find their voice in modern cities. I look forward to sharing my love of these works with you through this site.

For those who are interested in my other writings, please check out the Yoga and Knitting sites here at Bella OnLine. I joined BOL in 2015, and writing here continues to bring me joy. Your feedback is always appreciated, and I look forward to sharing my ideas with my readers in all areas.
