I have been a southerner since the age of 7, when my family moved to Tennessee from Ohio. My older brothers warned me that people in the South did not wear shoes, and it took well over a decade to stop trying NOT to be “southern.” But, as I traveled throughout Europe, lived in the West and experienced general wanderlust, I simply kept coming back to the South. At this point, being southern is in my blood and I savor nearly all of the nuances it entails.

I have been a free lance writer, an entrepreneur and a professional equestrian, but these days I co-own an outdoor store, Looking Glass Outfitters, with my husband in Brevard, North Carolina. We are avid rockclimbers, and are often on the go with our two dogs in search of the best rock to climb. I am at my happiest when I have spent the day hiking, climbing, trailrunning or exploring and am amongst friendly people. For me, that happens most in the South! I hope you will enjoy getting to know both the better and lesser known attributes of the Southeast.
