Summer Sun Survival Kit 2011
Summer is the time of year when just about everybody is eager to enjoy plenty of summer time activities in the sun which is often not very kind to unprotected skin. Exposing the skin to intense sun robs the body of precious water, moisturizers, damages skin, damages hair, even damages the eyes. And of course the hot humidity attracts lots of biting bugs and mosquitoes. Here is a good idea for total body care this summer. Start preparing a summer survival kit. Then, secure the items in a small container with a zipper and place in a stylish summer tote to take with you everywhere!
Summer Survival Kit Items
Things to include in your summer survival kit.
Large Hat - Always wear a large brimmed hat when exposed to outdoor sunlight. And consider changing to a shampoo and conditioner with SPF protection to protect hair and scalp on days hair and scalp are exposed to bright sunlight.
Bandanna - Carry or wear a bandanna around the neck to absorb sweat or remove sweat from the face. Bandannas are stylish and versatile and it is easy to use the bandanna to pull hair back and wrap into a pony tail or wrap around the hair to protect from too much summer sun.
Small Mini Fan - Slip a personal mini fan into your tote when going outdoors. Many fans are very compact weighing mere ounces but provide a very effective cooling breeze.
Wet Wipes - Look for wipes with Aloe Vera & Vitamin E because they soothe and moisturize the skin. Use wipes to cleanse face and reapply makeup. Use before reapplying deodorant.
Stylish Sunglasses - Eyes need extra sun protection. Without sun protection the eyes are exposed to dangerous sun rays risking corneal damage. Buy a good pair of sunglasses with 100 percent UV protection like the one's listed in this article.
Bug Repellent - Carry a DEET free bug repellent like Burt's Bees herbal insect repellent or Badger antibug balm to get rid of mosquito's. Or carry eucalyptus oil, peppermint oil or citronella oil to rub on exposed skin. These essential oils ward off mosquito's.
Lip balm - Lips need protection from the sun's UVA rays too. Most lipsticks do not have enough sun screen protection for sensitive lips. Buy lip balms with extra strong SPF. Burt's Bees, Blistex, and Natural Ice produce lip balms with SPF 8 and above.
Sunscreen- Many moisturizers have added sun screen but these might not be effective enough to protect your skin. Doctors Recommend using SPF 30 or higher. Burt's Bees Sun Screen SPF 30 is one to try. The product is chemical free protects skin naturally.
Deodorant - Slip a natural deodorant like Tom's of Maine that is chemical free and gives long lasting protection into your tote to freshen up during the day. Try the original care deodorant stick or long lasting deodorant roll-on.
Scents/Cologne - Include a mini size essential oil or cologne fragrance in your summer survival kit.. Any oil or cologne in scents like lavender, sandalwood, jasmine or rose, soothe and relax the body and mind.
Natural Breath Fresheners - Don't let a sour mouth sour you whole day. Carry a natural breath freshener like licorice or cloves with you.
Bottled Water - By the time you feel thirsty you are probably already dehydrated. Prolonged thirst might lead to dehydration and heat stroke. So, always carry your favorite bottled water in your tote to quench that summer thirst. Evian natural Spring water is a favorite.
Face Spray - Evain Spray is naturally pure spring water bottled with a spray attachment to spray on the face. Perfect solution to spray the face and cool off instantly. Or make your own face spray. Buy an inexpensive mini bottle with spray attachment at the dollar store and fill with water. Spray on face when you feel overheated.
Power Bar - Natural and organic power bars generate energy. Something many require especially during the hot and humid summer months. One popular power bar is Clif Energy Bar. Available in several different flavors. Packed with plenty of vitamins, minerals, protein.
Cellphone - Always carry a fully charged cellphone, especially during the summer. Then, if you should experience heat exhaustion help is just a phone call away.
Include all the items mentioned or mix and match. At least carry a few for your own body care and total summer care and protection.
