I am invited to an engagement party this Saturday, Feb 5, my first time to be invited to such occasion. My question: Do I have to give a gift and what kind of gift is appropriate?

The groom-to-be is a closed family friend. I was invited by his mom. Please, rush the answer. Thanks a lot.

You aren't required to bring a gift to the engagement party. However if you would like to do so, ask his mother where the couple have registered. It is possible that the couple isn't registered as of yet, so keep this in mind as well.
