How Your Baby Changes During the Tenth Week of Pregnancy
Your baby has grown very quickly and now weighs 5 grams. Now a full fetus, he has very detailed facial features. His eyelids are forming and covering his eyes now. His external ears look very detailed, instead of the earlier simple ear folds.
His mouth is now opening and closing for the first times because the upper palate is forming. These mouth movements will continue to get more dramatic as baby's in the womb have been observed chewing, swallowing and even sucking their thumbs, prior to birth!
How Your Body Changes During Week Ten of Pregnancy
Some women begin to experience heartburn already, due to the fluctuating hormones of pregnancy and the increase pressure from the growing uterus. Be sure to avoid drinking or eating a heavy meal right before you lay down at night to help alleviate heartburn. Large, heavy meals will also make heartburn discomfort worse.
If you have not yet seen a midwife or doctor for your first prenatal check up you will want to do so soon. A healthy pregnancy diet will help prevent pregnancy complications and keep you feeling well throughout the coming months.
You may be like many pregnant women and feel unsure of where you want to birth at. With so many options available now; home birth, birth centers and hospitals, women are free to interview, research and ask questions. Don't be afraid to ask around so you can find someone you really feel comfortable working with through your entire pregnancy, labor and postpartum.
