Guess the Number
This is a popular game that has been used at county fairs, parties and events with regularity. Why not adapt the game for some baby shower fun?
Fill a baby bottle with small items and challenge party-goers to guess how many there are inside. You can even match the items with whatever will fit the theme! For example, an Easter themed baby shower could use jelly beans. For a general baby shower themed bottle try filling it will baby items like cotton balls or diaper pins. If you just want to match a particular color use M & m's or other colored candies. To give the mother a monetary gift, use nickels or dimes that she then is allowed to keep afterwards.
Another variation of guessing the number of small objects in a baby bottle, is to use a large pail and fill it with baby diapers. Use a Diaper Genie or other container and have your guests try to get the number of diapers correct. The closest person without going over is the winner!
Guess the Baby Stats
What are the first questions everyone asks when a baby is born? They all want to know the length of the baby, the weight of the baby and the time it was born. Why not turn this guessing game everyone does naturally into a long-term baby shower game? Everyone write down their guesses about the baby's height (length), weight, date of birth, time of birth (They could just mark down a range; midnight-6am, 6am-noon, noon to 6pm, or 6pm-midnight), and if it isn't yet known, the sex of the baby. Obviously, you can't proclaim a winner until after the baby is born - but it could make for a quick, easy guessing game at do at a pre-birth party.
Guess the Size of the Belly Game
I recommend making sure you have a willing mother-to-be before you do this type of game, but it can be a lot of fun for guests.
Bring a ball of yarn and scissors to pass around to everyone. Each person cuts off a length of yarn that they thing will fit around the mother's belly. Whoever gets the closest to the actual length, which the hostess can measure by actually wrapping a length of yarn around the mother, will be the winner!
For alternative versions you can use a roll of toilet paper or crepe paper streamers instead of yarn.
Guess the "Stinky Diaper" Game
Make tiny baby diapers by folding triangles of white paper or white felt, and fasten them closed with tiny safety pins. Put a small dab of mustard or melted chocolate on one of the diapers to create the "stinky diaper".
Tie each safety pin to a length of ribbon and place all the diapers into a small trash can or bowl. Make sure the diapers are in the container and the loose ends of the ribbons hanging out. Pass the container around and let each person fish out a diaper with their ribbon. The one who gets the "stinky diaper" is the winner.
