Barbecued Shrimp Lafayette
Guest Author - Vanette (Vannie) Ryanes

This delicious recipe comes from Pennie Mills. The name Barbecued Shrimp Lafayette conjures up an image of good friends, good food and good wine. Make sure you have lots of paper napkins for catching the delicious hot butter sauce that's sure to drip as you dip French bread into it.

preheat oven to 450 degrees

3 lbs. large shrimp washed & deveined with shell & tail on

cayenne pepper

black pepper

garlic powder

place shrimp in a glass baking dish & sprinkle generously with peppers & garlic

Sauce

Heat ingredients in a small saucepan

1lb butter or margarine

1/3cup Worcestershire sauce

1/4 tsp Tabasco sauce

pour sauce over shrimp
____________________

1. Cook in a 450 degree oven for 10 minutes, stir and cook a bit more if needed.
Oven temps vary a great deal & this dish cooks fast, so it is best to keep a close eye on it so it does not over cook, when the shrimp has turned white you know it is done.

2. When done take out of the oven, stir to coat shrimp with sauce, sprinkle with 2 tsps kosher salt & let stand for 3 minutes

Use the remainder hot butter sauce for dipping & serve with french bread.
