Non-Traditional Colors for Holiday Layouts

Non-Traditional Colors for Holiday Layouts
Use non-traditional colors to spice up your holiday layouts.

Holidays are wonderful events for scrapbookers, with all of the photo opportunities. Many of us get "burned out" scrapbooking the holidays though, since it is the same event each and every year. It gets really hard to come up with something new and unique to make this years holidays stand out from last.

One way to give you some variety are the colors that you select for those holiday celebrations! You do not have to limit yourself to just the traditional holiday colors when making your holiday pages! No matter which holiday, choose to "think out of the box," when it comes to color choices.

Try using a dark blue with burgundy for Christmas pages, or try using shiny golds with your greens. Instead of just red and green for Christmas try different shades of blues, silvers or gold’s.

Using non-traditional colors for the holidays isn't just a scrapbooking trend. I have seen pink, blue and silver Christmas decor at some of the posh boutiques!

The color possibilities are endless! Keep an eye out for holiday ads and catalogues that inspire you. One of my favorite sources of inspiration each year at Christmas is wrapping paper- it's colorful and can be extremely creative!

The scrapbook manufactures seem to be steering away from always using the traditional color schemes. That will also help us have more variety to choose from. Look for some of those new holiday products to update your stash and make your holiday pages a little more unique this year!

Use pastels (to match that little princess costume!) for Halloween pictures. For Easter use some bold colors instead of pastels...get creative with your colors.

Sometimes your pictures will scream of the traditional holiday colors. Green and red at from that picture of the family standing in from of the Christmas tree. I recommend that you print your pictures in black and white if your pictures are going to clash with your non-traditional color scheme.

The holidays are important events for us to capture in our scrapbooks. Don't let the frustration of making each year's page different than the last keep you from scrapping those holiday photos. Finding some non-traditional color schemes for your holiday layouts may just be that twist you need to get those holiday pages completed and in your scrapbook!
