LittleBigPlanet 2 PS3

LittleBigPlanet 2 PS3
LittleBigPlanet 2 is an amazing game system and level creator for the Sony PS3. Not only do you get to enjoy fun levels to play, both in the game and online, but you can make your own levels to share as well!

To begin with, the game is a straightforward platform-type game. You're a cute little sack-creature that you can customize almost infinitely. You move along through their pre-set levels, hopping on stairs, pulling levers, turning gears, and solving puzzles.

The game would be fun enough if that was the entire purpose of the game. However, that's just the beginning. The game comes with a very well done level editor so that you can create levels of your own! Let's say this sounds too complicated to you. Not to fear - you can spend years playing levels *other* people have developed and put online. There are incredibly fun levels to immerse yourself into. I'm particularly fond of a Godzilla themed one!

Once you've gotten the hang of the game both with the built in levels and the online ones, you might want to venture into the world of designing your own levels. The ability to customize is just phenomenal. Fill it with pink cupcakes and floating butterflies. Create a dark world with gears and spikes. Whatever your vision is, you can make a world to match your dreams. Then you can put it online - if you wish - and share your vision with everyone else!

The level creator comes with a very in depth set of tutorials so that you can learn the steps one at a time. You take it at your own pace and build up your own skills.

I really don't see any down sides here. If all you want to do is hop around in a fun platformer, you can do that. If you want to have an endless supply of new levels to poke around in, you've got access to that. If you want to play online with friends, you can do that. And if you've got the urge to create your own racing games, platform games, or just silly worlds to hang out in, you can do that too!

I suppose if you're a blood-and-guts war gamer, you might find this a little cutesy for your taste. So you do have to appreciate the soft-fuzzy atmosphere here. However, with that being said, I think the game really does appeal to just about everyone!

Rating: 10/10

We rented this game from gamefly with our own funds in order to review it. We kept it for FAR longer than we should have :)
