Dangerous Body Care Products
Think a moment. Exactly what do you know about the body care products that you apply to your body daily? Are you aware of the ingredients in the product or their effect on your body? Are you concerned about product safety and testing? What ingredients are dangerous? These are essential questions to answer before purchasing any body care product. All body care products vary in safety and efficiency. Some are dangerous to your health. Therefore, it is vital to understand the FDA's task and the manufacturer’s compulsory actions involving body care products currently on the market.
What are Body Care Products?
Let's begin by examining body care products. Name a few products that you apply to your body each day. People favor body care products for good reasons. Main reasons include helping one to appear more attractive, cleansing the skin, or creating a temporary affect. Typical products include the following:
Body Care Product Ingredients
Name at least one ingredient in your favorite body care product? Stumped? I bet the average person does not know what ingredients are in their favorite body care products. Research by the FDA found a whole list of irritating ingredients that were commonly added to your favorite soaps, body wash, deodorants, creams, and lotions. The ingredients irritate the skin or even cause infections. Of course, there are fragrance free products and natural products available. Those products are good alternatives to consider. Why? Well, fragrance free products do not include perfumes that cause skin irritations. Natural products do not include preservatives which also cause skin irritations. Some common preservatives include the following:
Take a look at the ingredients listed on the label on your favorite products. One or several of the ingredients listed here are probably included.
The FDA is looking out for the consumer. Right? Think again. The FDA is a watch dog organization that does not actually review or approve every product on the consumer market. What is the FDA's role? Well, they encourage companies to place a warning label on unsafe products, but this is not compulsory. The FDA's role is to collect information about unsafe products on the market and make the information public. For example, consumers might like to check the FDA website for recent warnings about body care products.
The Consumer's Role
The consumer's role is to precede with due caution. Many products are not tested for safety. Stats are higher on imported products. Those cheaper imports contain ingredients that might cause irritations or infections. Some are actually very dangerous. The consumer should check the product label to determine safety. Examine the label closely. Look for perfumes and other irritating ingredients. Avoid products that are clearly untested. Visit the FDA website for further information or warnings about unsafe body care products.
