Create A Positive 2014
We all experience those negative thoughts swirling around in our head. Those negative thoughts affect the directions that you take in life. Some of those negative emotions lead to making bad choices or no choices. Negative attitudes lead to stress that affects the body negatively. Make 2014 the year to embrace a new attitude that is positive. That new positive attitude ultimately leads to a better quality of life and better health. Let's take a look at a few steps to change that negative into a positive.
Spend less time with negative people who bring you down with their words or actions. Those negative people influence your life choices more than you imagine. Try to develop relationships with friends who inspire you or challenge you to improve your quality of life in a positive way.
Change Your Attitude
Change the way that you think about situations. See the cup half full instead of half empty. Approach challenges with the attitude that this is a great learning experience. Feed your brain with positive messages instead of negative messages. For example, every time a negative thought enters your mind . . .Stop! Feed your brain a positive thought or a positive affirmation.
Don't let your emotions overwhelm your life. Don't let anger or other negative emotions control your response to stressful situations. Try to take several deep breaths before responding to someone in anger. Never make an important decision while you are angry, sad, or desperate. Wait until your emotions cool down. This is one way to take control of your emotions and your life.
Take a few minutes every day to sit back in a quiet room and just relax your mind without outside stimuli. Turn off the stereo, television, and telephone. Sit in a comfortable chair and close your eyes. Focus on yourself and your breathing. Take a few deep cleansing breaths. Feel positive energy flow in with each breath and negative energy flowing out with each exhale.
Studies show that writing down your feelings in a journal is a great way to relieve stress. Keep a journal about your daily life and ways to improve situations. Keeping a journal helps you to reach goals. Write down your goals for the week or month. Write down the steps that you need to take to reach the goals. Review your accomplishments at the end of the week or month. Include positive feedback and affirmations for reaching goals.
