High Heel Warnings
Here is the low down on high heels. Ladies, think twice before you buy that next pair of six inch heel designer pumps. Those beauties look good in the store display. They might look fabulous on your feet, but the gorgeous skyscraper heels are triggering long term foot problems that might last well into your older years.
Why High Heels Are Bad News
Some women swear that they look good and feel attractive wearing higher heels. Well, the fact is that those killer heels are torture machines. The stiletto beauties are excruciating to wear and ruin your posture. Women who constantly wear high heels should check their posture. Continuously wearing killer pumps has probably changed their perfect posture. Studies show that the heel height places the feet at an odd angle. People were simply not built to walk at such an abnormal position.
Wearing high heels destroys the hamstring too. The high heels pitch your body forward. Therefore, the hamstrings do not have to stretch as far to touch the ground because your heel is up in the air. The hamstring starts to atrophy. This causes a noticeable difference in your walk. Walking normally is difficult. Many women end up walking pitched forward on their toes like an infant taking their first steps. It simply hurts too much for them to walk on a level surface.
Calluses and Corns
Wearing high heels causes calluses and corns on the feet. Corns are those painful little growths along the side of the foot near or outside of the little toes. They cause tremendous discomfort and make it challenging to walk. Calluses are hardened skin tissue that develops on the bottom of the feet and under the toes. The hardened skin is a direct response to the pressure placed there by those high heels. That compression is causing damage to the tendons in the feet, which could result in long term complications.
Wearing high heels might damage heels or cause plantar fascia. This is a very painful foot problem or health condition that requires medical treatment with anti-inflammatory medication, oral steroids, or cortisone shots.
Hold on to your Jimmy Choos. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Save those designer heels for special occasions. Wear lower heels to work and play. Health experts suggest wearing heels that are around two inches or lower. Flat shoes are the best alternative. Check out the cute flat styles to wear during the spring and summer this year. They might save your feet a lot of stress and pain, and you'll still look very stylish.
"You Put High Heels On And You Change."
“I design like an architect,” he says. “It’s a beautiful, distinctive art, and shoes are like the foundations. If the foundations aren’t right, the building won’t stand upright, and if a woman’s balance isn’t right, nothing else is.”
