Pirates of the Caribbean

Birds in the Movies

Do all pirates have a parrot on their shoulder? Well in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean, one of the pirates has a parrot on his shoulder.

This pirate was mute and his blue & gold macaw spoke for him. Of course, he wasn’t always understood and if the other pirates didn’t know what the bird said, they just assumed the answer was “yes”.

Because the pirate with the parrot did not have a large role in the movie, his parrot didn’t either, but the bird provided some bright colour to the scenes that he appeared in.
