The exterior of a vehicle basically consists of enamel, rubber, vinyl, chrome and plastics and aluminum. All of which have different textures and maintenance requirements. This article is a series of how to best keep and maintain its surface for maximum durability and longevity. Often, you may experience trying different brands of implements because while some may be more expensive, they may not be as effective.

Today, our bumpers or for those of you who still call them fenders, consist of plastic coated with enamel and clear coat. While the material itself seems flexible, the enamel is sometimes gets tapped or bumped causing minor cracking. I've had this on my car and I tried several things and what finally worked was Turtle Wax Color Cure--my car is black. I applied a generous coat onto the corner of my bumper and let it dry completely. I first wiped it with a terry towel to get off the paste and then I applied another light coat, let it dry and buffed it by hand with a clean terry cloth. Not only did it restore my color but it gave me a shine also. I could hardly notice the area had any flaws. The Color Cure filled in the cracks and gave me a satisfactory shine to boot. Lighter or fairer colored cars may not need such extent of application of Color Cure. Once the desired result is achieved, you should resume to regular waxing procedures. I recommend using the Color Cure for spots that need color restoration--even your entire vehicle. A second application may be necessary for areas with scratches and cracks. This product is wonderful for color restoration. If you require more shine, I recommend Turtle Wax Platinum Series Detailing Mist. I use Color Cure at least once a month as part of my waxing regimen.
