In My Opinion

In My Opinion
My friends often tell me just how opinionated they think I am--my opinion is that they are right! I recently visited a shop that details cars. I was on a top secret mission to find out if there were any secrets to the world of detailing. I found out that there are two differences. One being that they use buffing equipment and the other being the cost! Now, I'm no rocket scientist, but when you charge someone to the tune of $130 and up for detailing--IN MY OPINION, that's outrageous! First of all, I can understand the person who has no idea of what to do to detail their car or they may just have other things to do and do not have the time. But when you go to these places and pay these prices and when something is not to your satisfaction--blame yourself. My point and case is this. An associate of mine went to one of these places and paid a substantial amount of money to have her car cleaned and detailed inside and out! Because I know this person and have seen her car enough to know that she keeps it fairly presentable--I feel she should at least get half of her money back.

The story...

At 10 AM she arrives and pays (never pre-pay) $125.00--strike number one--for an interior/exterior cleaning. She is told her car would be ready by 4 pm. When she arrives around 4 pm, her car is NOT ready--strike number two. In fact, the interior was just being started on! She is told to come back in 1 hour. She returns to find her car parked along side several other vehicles which obviously was the reason her's wasn't done on time--I thought only airports and restaurants over-booked?! The first thing she noticed was the swirl marks in her hood and on her doors. When she got into her car, she noticed that her carpet was moist and still dirty looking. As far she could see, even her winshield wasn't cleaned. Now I know this sounds unbelievable but it is TRUE. At this time, she turned around and went straight to the manager and demanded her money back--if she hadn't pre-paid, she could have the upper hand right now! Well words were exchanged and things were said and the bottom line is that she was simply ripped off!

I say that to say this...First of all, what is wrong with us that we can't be accountable for our choices. She never had any references to check this company out. She simply put her faith--her car in someone else's care--care?!
They didn't care! And that being my point. If you don't want to maintain your car--don't just give it to the first place you see. Ask around, go to the Auto Zone, ask a pro or better yet go online and read my articles.

Happy ending...

Even though my friend never got any satisfaction form her experience, she has asked me to detail her car--It was my pleasure. What happened to her, should not happen to anyone who spends money like that. When she offered to pay me, I declined because that's what friends are for. I hope everyone who reads this does the research before you just hand over your keys and your car to someone who wouldn't treat it like it was there own. Not all shops are like this one--IN MY OPINION--C.Y.A.! Keep rollin'.
