IT IS NOW THE YEAR OF THE WOOD MONKEY!!!

HIGHLIGHT: SUN SQUARE URANUS!

These trends are generic to ALL people. Some are very slow aspects, such as Venus, Neptune and Pluto retrograde - these aspects will last for at least the summer. These planetary trends reflect the energies of the Tarot beautifully. Each planet is a unique "Archetype" of its own and they move at their own pace. For instance, the large planets, eg Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, not to mention little Pluto have hardly moved at all since yesterday. The Moon on the other hand, moves swiftly through the twelve signs - it makes a full circle through all twelve during each lunar month (28 days). This reminds us of the noble energies of the Tarot, which do not tell your "fortune" but help you attune to the shifts, dynamics, and intricasies of our Universe.

Tarot Aspects for Today

Sun Square Uranus

The Sun and Uranus (planet of sudden change) are moving into a 90 degree square with the Sun at 5 degrees Gemini and Uranus at 6 degrees Pisces. This ominous aspect can add an air of frustration and aggressive to the other energies described below. Remember to count to ten, or go and sleep on it before blowing up at someone. People feel more erratic, restless and agitated, - some border on paranoia, so it is best to keep any criticisms to yourself and try to feel some peace within your own being. The tarot card that resonates with this energy is the Reversed Eight of Coins that speaks of recklessness, and unrealistic expectations. It also warns us not to abandon our values and ideals - not to cast all that we have to the wind. It is NOT a good idea to make major lifestyle changes at this time.

Mercury Square Neptune

Another more negative aspect begins today with Mercury at 12 degrees Taurus and Neptune in 15 degrees Aquarius. Mercury is still well-aspected by Mars and Saturn, but now Neptune adds a damper to the mix. This aspect coupled with the Sun-Uranus aspect just described can cause us all to act badly, if we are not watchful and disciplined. It adds peculiar over-imagination tendencies along with less rational thought. Fight the tendency towards mental avoidance and accept your responsibilities. It is important to analyze your experiences and proceed with a clear view of reality. Don't let your imaginings get the better of you, especially the negative ones. Get rid of any illusions you may have about yourself, and don't avoid facing the facts about your own feelings, behaviors and actions. See yourself for who you truly are and what you do. The tarot energy that reflects this transit is the Reversed Ace of Swords which heralds potential abuse of power and the promotion of injustice. This is often catalyzed by the person in question believing in their own righteousness but doubting the integrity of others which leads to callous behavior towards them. It can point to a situation where a person is misusing his or her intellectual superiority resulting in underhanded dishonest behaviors. Legal problems are also indicated.

Mercury Sextile Mars

This nearly exact 60 degree aspect brings an infusion of creative energy into the mix, a time to express your imagination in a multitude of ways. You will be more in tune with your capabilities and your limitations and will feel a surge of energy that will help you to achieve your potential. You may feel a deeper level of understanding about life and beyond, and your ability to concentrate will be heightened during this transit. People will be less inoffensive and easier to meet now. Our ability to keep a secret is also boosted at this time. It is a good time to really express your ability to communicate well, whether in heart-to-hearts, writing, art, music - whatever your modis operanti happens to be. You will especially enjoy dialoguing with people who are free of psychological hang-ups, and seek out people who are creative and inspiring. The Tarot card that matches this trend is the Knight of Cups who heralds new opportunities, creativity and artistic expression, sensitivity and idealism.

Mercury Sextile Saturn

This positive aspect between the planet of communication and the planet of stability bring a welcome energy to those who really want to get somewhere in their businesses and their lives. Mercury is at an almost exact 60 degree sextile not only with Mars but with Saturn (these latter two are in perfect conjunction at 0 degrees). It brings heightened intellect, as well as resourcefulness, thoughtfulness, and organization to your endeavors. This energy helps you to believe in yourself, realistically - it is not an energy of pipe-dreams, but of valid concrete progress. You are better able to discipline yourself to carry out your business in an ethical and dedicated way, which enhances the positive sustainability of your work and life events. You seek out mature, honest and open people who respect and honor you. Writing is particularly favored during this transit - if you have a deadline, this is the time to meet it! You will do so both eloquently and effortlessly. The tarot card that resonates with this sextile is the Ace of Swords which speaks of mental focus, new beginnings and success through diligence. It shows a high degree of mental clarity and intellectual focus. It brings strength of will, decisiveness and able perseverance.

Moon in Leo

The Moon is still in the masculine, active, buoyant sign of Leo. This is a cycle where you are will feel more proud, ambitious, and have no hesitiation about assuming heavy responsiblity or appearing prominently in the public eye. We all will have a more natural affinity for roles of authority. There may be a tendency for some to be prone to love affairs; in fact we will probably enjoy great popularity with the opposite sex during this cycle, because of greater susceptibility and sincerity in love. There is a tendency attract the admiration of superiors at this time, which can bring the favor of people in high brackets. We will be more generous with our affections, as well as being generally honest, straightforward and idealistic. Intelligence will be demonstrated more, as well as a love of the arts and theatre, music, painting and literature. On the other hand, we may all display an inordinate love of luxuries for their own sake - jewelry and extravagant clothing, etc. This cycle brings a lively, persevering spirit, a time of good mind and good organizational ability. The card that resonates to this energy is the Star, the Number 6 card of the Major Arcana. It brings renewal and hope and higher more lively energy that was felt when the Moon was in Cancer. It brings a period of calm and serenity, where difficulties are more easily resolved and the path ahead becomes clearer. Both physical and spiritual renewal is favored bringing confidence, hope, inspiration and the attainment of cherished goals.

Mercury Trine Jupiter

Mercury and Jupiter are almost exactly 120 degrees apart, with Mercury at 12 degrees Taurus and Jupiter at 9 degrees in Virgo. Trines are very positive aspects, bringing harmony and ease to the energies of both planets. This aspect makes our minds broader, more tolerant, quick to comprehend and be honest, and leads us to be open to contemplation. This aspect is good for those in higher education, religion, and philosophy. We communicate with ease and confidence and can project our ideas and have others accept them. It brings good judgment, keen powers of observation, above average intelligence and integrity-- you naturally consider the moral and ethical implications of your thoughts and actions during this transit. Your mind is active. We are more prone to be good-natured, mild-tempered, breezy-mannered and generous toward friends. You will enjoy entertaining in your home and want it to be conducive to social harmony and intellectual pursuits. Travel is favored, both physical and mental. This energy helps us to exemplify the principle of positive thinking and your mental optimism helps you to succeed. The Tarot card that resonates with this transit is The Sun the Number 19th card of the Major Arcana. The Sun indicates positive influences at work and in our personal lives regarding achievement, material success, happiness, and contentment. It helps us to recognize the skills and drive within us that can help us to achieve our ambitions and receive recognition for them. This is a very beneficial card for those planning marriage, to have a child, or are starting out on a new venture.

Venus Opposite Pluto

Oppositions occur when planets are about 180 degrees apart in the zodiac. Venus is slowly moving backward to 24 degrees in Gemini while Pluto is also moving backward at 21 degrees Sagittarius. When planets are in opposition, their energies conflict and can cause restrictions and boundaries. Romantic and sexual problems can occur during this aspect, which are often due to uncontrolled passions and psychological inhibitions that prevent positive sexual expression. You may engage in looking for the ideal love and career yet will need to learn to compromise while keeping high standards for yourself. You may try to remake your spouse rather than try to reform yourself. Or, you may be more dictatorial to your spouse and vice versa. Jealousy and possessiveness will be heightened. You may also attract undesirable associates and some may be involved in the criminal use of sex. This aspect can distort your will and your power to regenerate. Watch out for problems with taxes, joint finances, inheritances, etc., often due to chancy over-investment. Hidden debts and unethical financial practices will be revealed and all-consuming - keep your check book balanced! The tarot card that matches this aspect is the Reversed Two of Cups. Quarrels and misunderstandings between couples are highlighted, possibly leading to the end of the relationship if both parties aren't cognizant of what is happening. We all must guard against rash actions and hasty decisions, and avoid underhanded behaviors.

Sun in Gemini:

For the next 26 days or so, the Sun Sign will be in Gemini which brings a livelier air to our lives: our energy begins to quicken. This is the cycle for natural communication, with a never-ending thirst for knowledge. Gemini cycles bring out the student in us all. The prevailing energy is intelligent, pushing us to be always on the move, always trying to satisfy our mental curiosity. This is a good time for picking out what is salient in a situation, acquiring knowledge easily, and sharing it with others. The nuance of Gemini is bright, bringing out our multi-talents and enthusiasm, but we must guard against scattering our energies in too many directions. The Tarot card that resonates to this new energy is the Knight of Wands, ushering in change but doing so with eloquence and charm. This Knight blesses us with energy that does make us change our minds swiftly, and sometimes, unpredictably but also gives us a sophisticated air that helps us to achieve our goals. Use this cycle to get up to date on your correspondence, to share "heart to hearts" with your significant others, and to write that best-seller! Plan long lunches and cozy fireside chats to fully express your heart and souls to those who matter most to you. This energy will prevail for the next thirty days, peaking around the end of June.

Mars Sextile Jupiter

Mars and Jupiter are now in an almost exact Sextile, with Mars at 11 degrees Cancer and Jupiter at 9 degrees Virgo. The energy of this spect means that we all can more effectively use our resources of mind and body to gain our objectives. During this aspect, we tend to establish ambitious and demanding goals, but we are prepared to take any steps necessary to see that these ideas are constructively implemented. We can apply mental-physical muscle workouts that prepare us for later confrontations with serious opponents. This interaction helps us to assert ourselves under pressure and to develop our talent for effective communication through dramatic delivery and clever use of words. You will be able to document what you say with convincing evidence. We tend to become more quick to defend anyone who cannot defend themself or is not trained in the art of persuasive argument. You will project yourself amazingly well now and can gain many admirers for your effusiveness. Young people may especially be impressed with you and may even regard you as an example to aspire to. Try not to be too blunt in saying what is on your mind though. The tarot card that relates to this aspect is the Queen of Coins who brings practicality, shrewdness and financial success to the mix. The regal addition of this energy to the strong metaphysical energy of the retrograde planets is a fortunate one. She will help you to succeed in the material world despite the upheavel of inner transformation. You won't lose your shirt while your inner world is turned upside-down and inspected for purity and resilency. She brings the capacity for hard work and sound solid advice from experts, particularly female ones, which are very helpful for succeeding in business.

Mars Conjunct Saturn:

If you look at the table, you will see that Mars and Saturn are now in the exact same position even though both are progressing - both are now at 11 degrees Cancer. This profoundly affects each of us, no matter when we were born. Mars conjunct Saturn helps us to use our energy in a constructive way. The normal desire to assert yourself on impulse is balanced by realization of the consequences of such an action. This quality of restraint can mean great accomplishments for you because you don't waste energy on unproductive efforts. Your sense of economy and efficiency come out, helping you to achieve success; you know how to use your talents purposefully for specific objectives. You are realistic in applying good judgement before taking any action. The World card, Number 21 of the Major Arcana matches this sort of deliberate energy. It also represents change, but change that is done in a careful way ensuring a successful outcome. It indicates financial and material success, but even more importantly, it points out spiritual success. This attunes well with the slow aspects that Venus, Neptune and Pluto are holding for the long-term: aspects that demand that we all attune more to our Spirits and Hearts. The following three aspects will continue for several moons to come - Venus will be retrograde for most of the summer; Neptune and Pluto extend even longer. Notice how slowly they move each day - for instance, Neptune and Pluto have not moved at all since yesterday.

Venus Retrograde in Gemini:

Venus is now resting in Mercury's sign, Gemini - a wonderful event if you are inclined to relax and enjoy the beauty of life. This is the perfect time to take stock of what is aesthetic and beautiful in your life: and to change what is not. Our spirits and hearts need beauty and refinement in order to express themselves fully. This is a good aspect for this: Art, Creation, Gardening, Magic and Self-Development are all favored if we can approach Venus' backwards movement with care and respect. She can help us discover what or who it is that we truly love,..and to sift through the "stuff" that makes our lives seem boring or even ugly. Venus correlates to the Goddess, Aphrodite who is exemplified in the Empress Tarot card of the Major Arcana. She brings artistic creativity, inspiration, feminine wisdom and caring, and a general sense of well-being.

Neptune Retrograde in Aquarius:

When Neptune is retrograde it is time to build up your strength and resistance both physically and spiritually. It is the perfect time to engage in healthy and healing past times such as meditation, fitness activities, healing sessions, chakra work, being out in nature especially water, gardening, walking, visiting a spa, going on vacation to a relaxing secluded place and so on. A perfect time too to learn and practice Eastern philosophies and exercises or First Nations rituals. The Aquarian energy urges you to think of the future and of humanitarian causes. Neptune retrograde brings the danger of infections, allergy distress and being more susceptible to bacteria, viri and the like. Boost your immune system with vitamins, herbs, chakra work, homeopathy and such. Natural medicines work better now than traditional ones. Watch out for poisons and pesticides at this time. Remember you are responsible for your own health. Feed your body, your mind, your spirit with positive nutrients by eating well, thinking well and engaging in daily spiritual practices that bring you peace and harmony. The Tarot Number 1 Major Arcana card, the Magician, reminds us of Neptune retrograde, bringing new confidence, good communication, and skillful, intelligent self development energy. Your strength of will and ability to channel your energies into achieving desired results will ensure your success.

Pluto Retrograde in Sagittarius:

Pluto is the planet of transformation, calling us to right our lives, to change what is unhealthy and unwholesome and begin to lead a clean and aesthetic life. One that involves charity and kindness and the ability to withstand the fires of purification and change. If you resist the change, you suffer. If you flow with the changes, you transform and rise like the phoenix, shining. It's as simple as that! Pluto will support and protect you when you accept the changes and move along without resistance. Or, if you resist, it will school you in the arena of hard knocks. You have no choice - you must change! You must transform! But do so not out of fear or coercion but out of maturity and willingness. Follow your intuition, be kind to all around you and help others around you go through their own transformation.

The Sagittarian energy moves you to become fit, to travel, to add adventure and new experiences to your daily routine. The High Priestess, the Number 2 card of the Major Arcana, lends energy to this aspect: she urges us to make decisions with our heart rather than our heads; she affords wisdom, guidance and foresight; and brings good judgement and self-reliance. She also reveals that which is hidden, in our hearts and souls. Truly time for a holistic spring cleaning!
