The Tarot Sky Now : Planetary Trends for June 1st
Planetary Positions are for Noon, GMT
June 1st, 2004

IT IS NOW THE YEAR OF THE WOOD MONKEY!!!

HIGHLIGHT: MOON SEXTILE JUPITER!

These trends are generic to ALL people. Some are very slow aspects, such as Venus, Neptune and Pluto retrograde - these aspects will last for at least the summer. These planetary trends reflect the energies of the Tarot beautifully. Each planet is a unique "Archetype" of its own and they move at their own pace. For instance, the large planets, eg Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, not to mention little Pluto have hardly moved at all since yesterday. The Moon on the other hand, moves swiftly through the twelve signs - it makes a full circle through all twelve during each lunar month (28 days). This reminds us of the noble energies of the Tarot, which do not tell your "fortune" but help you attune to the shifts, dynamics, and intricasies of our Universe.

Tarot Aspects for Today

Moon Sextile Jupiter

This very fleeting transit (the Moon changes position quickly) adds optimism and a more positive attitude that brings a much needed feeling of well-being. Your energy will flow more freely, and you will enjoy contact with others more. If you are able to share your inner enthusiasms with open-minded people, you will feel your life expand. However, you may find yourself feeling over-sensitive to negative reactions from others - best to avoid any confrontation. Try instead to disengage yourself from them as soon as possible. If you must deal with negative people today, try to do so from a place of centeredness and calm. Compassion, generosity, and a more altruistic, humanistic air will be felt by astute folk today. Religious idealism may also abound. A stronger sense of social responsibility will be evident, people will support endeavors that improve the quality of life. Creavitity and imaginative potential are also favored. The tarot card that reflects this energy is the Star - the Number 17 card of the Major Arcana. She brings a sense of peace and calmness to the mix, where difficulties are resolved and the Path ahead becomes clearer. A physical and spiritual renewal is favored, with increased confidence, hope, inspiration, and the attainment of cherished goals.

Moon in Scorpio

This transit continues, moving us into a more emotional, volatile frame of mind, compared to the peace loving Moon in Libra we enjoyed over the weekend. Now, many will engage in battle, both figuratively and realistically. Problems now are faced alone, yet you are able to face them with some assurance, confidence in your abilities and self-reliance. Be careful though, you may bring about the thing you are trying to avoid. During this transit, we are all more outspoken, blunt, energetic, positive and hard working. There is a receptiveness to change now, in our boldness and independence. Yet deep down, we may be basically conservative and adverse to any changes, particularly if they are forced on us by other people or circumstances. This is a superb time for supporting or engineering great revolutionary changes. You will also be able to discern when and why others don't understand you. It is important to think and act clearly though, since this aspect brings an inclination to irritation, anger and revenge; some people may seem to lack a strong moral code or may drink too much. Yet we will also have great willpower, energy, determination, a love of pleasure and the desire to satisfy our tastes. This is a good aspect for those who have work connected to death in some way; such as an insurance claim adjustor, policeman, fireman or soldier. Many will have a powerful attraction toward the opposite sex. The tarot card that reflects this Lunar placement is the Seven of Cups bringing emotions that stem from within, the imagination and the subconscious - they represent our hopes, dreams and aspirations. It also indicates an element of confusion about whether these inner urges are actual reality or merely pipe-dreams. It is important that we choose our path wisely, and to avoid making major decisions during this fleeting transit.

Jupiter Opposite Uranus

Today Jupiter (planet of charisma, growth and diplomacy) at 9 degrees Virgo, moves into Opposition with Uranus (planet of erratic change, nebulousness) at Pisces 6 degrees. The motto for this transit is to "think long and hard before you speak or act!" This opposition tends to make us more restless, enthusiastic and independent but also willful and outspoken. We will criticize accepted "societal rules" - which in itself can be a positive thing: you may even try to change them, but most won't have the stamina to dedicate themselves to a long-term change. You may well promise more than you can deliver, and may also fall victim to the dishonest schemes of others. You may find yourself going off on undisciplined flights of fancy which distract you from the work at hand. Be careful with any gambling, investing or other financial speculations - some people will lose their shirt during this transit. Many will be drawn to unconventional occult topics and groups and may need to be careful with dubious groups. Try to control your tongue and attitude in all interactions. The tarot energy that resonates with this transit is the Reversed Tower - the Number 16 card of the Major Arcana. The reversed Tower brings the same sort of change and difficulty that the Upright Tower indicates, but when reversed, the effects are less major. Change is in the wind, and can prove disastrous if you do not act with prudence and self-discipline. Accidents, illnesses, loss of jobs, house or faith are all possible with this energy, especially if one allows their negativity to govern their interactions with others, both personally and professionally. You can still use the inherrent changes as stepping stones for self-improvement if you are watchful and look out for bona fide and honorable opportunities.

Sun Square Jupiter

The Sun and Jupiter are now in an almost exact square, with the Sun at 10 degrees Gemini and Jupiter at 9 degrees Virgo. This is a rather ominus aspect that demands that we all be on our toes to ensure safety and acceptable interpersonal communications. The square from the Sun to Jupiter adds energy to the mix that may prompt some to be immoderate in both their actions and their attitudes. This is a time when you will need to examine your priorities carefully before you act, or you may waste a lot of effort and time. Avoid biting off more than you can chew and prevent having to deal with a situation in the "eleventh hour". You may find it harder to plan your affairs well (including holiday weekends), and you may become annoyed when someone offers a suggestion or advice. You may also feel a false sense of bravado thinking you can accomplish much without expending any effort or discipline. If so, you may be in for an unwelcome surprise. It is important to watch out for connivers - people who want to benefit from your naivete, especially in situations where you are an outsider. If you are going away for the weekend, check everything twice including your mode of transportation, any reservations and watch out for sticky fingers - pick pockets and the like. Don't leave any valuables where they might be taken. Also watch out for manipulators - and avoid manipulating others for your own gain as well. This always reaps karma which makes it more difficult to navigate the spiritual path, in the long run. This will be a weekend of self-indulgence, which can be fine, if done in a healthy way. It can wreck havoc with traffic, shopping and so on though - so leave early, drive safely and avoid getting caught up in the frenzy that is likely to be out there - especially in the US on this long weekend. Keep your wits about you, and use common-sense! The tarot energy that matches this transit is the Reversed Eight of Coins which heralds wasted opportunities and self-absorption. It warns of a lack of ambition or at least a lack of the discipline needed to achieve one's ambitions. It shows someone who is too absorbed with everyday concerns and worries to be able to assess properly what needs to be done to achieve long-term security. Energy and opportunities will be wasted pursuing short-term gains (even stealing) and quick, but small returns on effort.

Venus Opposite Pluto

Oppositions occur when planets are about 180 degrees apart in the zodiac. Venus is slowly moving backward to 22 degrees in Gemini while Pluto is also moving backward at 21 degrees Sagittarius. When planets are in opposition, their energies conflict and can cause restrictions and boundaries. Romantic and sexual problems can occur during this aspect, which are often due to uncontrolled passions and psychological inhibitions that prevent positive sexual expression. You may engage in looking for the ideal love and career yet will need to learn to compromise while keeping high standards for yourself. You may try to remake your spouse rather than try to reform yourself. Or, you may be more dictatorial to your spouse and vice versa. Jealousy and possessiveness will be heightened. You may also attract undesirable associates and some may be involved in the criminal use of sex. This aspect can distort your will and your power to regenerate. Watch out for problems with taxes, joint finances, inheritances, etc., often due to chancy over-investment. Hidden debts and unethical financial practices will be revealed and all-consuming - keep your check book balanced! The tarot card that matches this aspect is the Reversed Two of Cups. Quarrels and misunderstandings between couples are highlighted, possibly leading to the end of the relationship if both parties aren't cognizant of what is happening. We all must guard against rash actions and hasty decisions, and avoid underhanded behaviors.

Sun in Gemini:

For the next 20 days or so, the Sun Sign will be in Gemini which brings a livelier air to our lives: our energy begins to quicken. This is the cycle for natural communication, with a never-ending thirst for knowledge. Gemini cycles bring out the student in us all. The prevailing energy is intelligent, pushing us to be always on the move, always trying to satisfy our mental curiosity. This is a good time for picking out what is salient in a situation, acquiring knowledge easily, and sharing it with others. The nuance of Gemini is bright, bringing out our multi-talents and enthusiasm, but we must guard against scattering our energies in too many directions. The Tarot card that resonates to this new energy is the Knight of Wands, ushering in change but doing so with eloquence and charm. This Knight blesses us with energy that does make us change our minds swiftly, and sometimes, unpredictably but also gives us a sophisticated air that helps us to achieve our goals. Use this cycle to get up to date on your correspondence, to share "heart to hearts" with your significant others, and to write that best-seller! Plan long lunches and cozy fireside chats to fully express your heart and souls to those who matter most to you. This energy will prevail for the next thirty days, peaking around the end of June.

Mars Conjunct Saturn:

If you look at the table, you will see that Mars and Saturn are now still close in position even though both are progressing - Mars is 15 degrees Cancer and Saturn is 12 degrees Cancer. This profoundly affects each of us, no matter when we were born. Mars conjunct Saturn helps us to use our energy in a constructive way. The normal desire to assert yourself on impulse is balanced by realization of the consequences of such an action. This quality of restraint can mean great accomplishments for you because you don't waste energy on unproductive efforts. Your sense of economy and efficiency come out, helping you to achieve success; you know how to use your talents purposefully for specific objectives. You are realistic in applying good judgement before taking any action. The World card, Number 21 of the Major Arcana matches this sort of deliberate energy. It also represents change, but change that is done in a careful way ensuring a successful outcome. It indicates financial and material success, but even more importantly, it points out spiritual success. This attunes well with the slow aspects that Venus, Neptune and Pluto are holding for the long-term: aspects that demand that we all attune more to our Spirits and Hearts. The following three aspects will continue for several moons to come - Venus will be retrograde for most of the summer; Neptune and Pluto extend even longer. Notice how slowly they move each day - for instance, Neptune and Pluto have not moved at all since yesterday.

Venus Retrograde in Gemini:

Venus is now resting in Mercury's sign, Gemini - a wonderful event if you are inclined to relax and enjoy the beauty of life. This is the perfect time to take stock of what is aesthetic and beautiful in your life: and to change what is not. Our spirits and hearts need beauty and refinement in order to express themselves fully. This is a good aspect for this: Art, Creation, Gardening, Magic and Self-Development are all favored if we can approach Venus' backwards movement with care and respect. She can help us discover what or who it is that we truly love,..and to sift through the "stuff" that makes our lives seem boring or even ugly. Venus correlates to the Goddess, Aphrodite who is exemplified in the Empress Tarot card of the Major Arcana. She brings artistic creativity, inspiration, feminine wisdom and caring, and a general sense of well-being.

Neptune Retrograde in Aquarius:

When Neptune is retrograde it is time to build up your strength and resistance both physically and spiritually. It is the perfect time to engage in healthy and healing past times such as meditation, fitness activities, healing sessions, chakra work, being out in nature especially water, gardening, walking, visiting a spa, going on vacation to a relaxing secluded place and so on. A perfect time too to learn and practice Eastern philosophies and exercises or First Nations rituals. The Aquarian energy urges you to think of the future and of humanitarian causes. Neptune retrograde brings the danger of infections, allergy distress and being more susceptible to bacteria, viri and the like. Boost your immune system with vitamins, herbs, chakra work, homeopathy and such. Natural medicines work better now than traditional ones. Watch out for poisons and pesticides at this time. Remember you are responsible for your own health. Feed your body, your mind, your spirit with positive nutrients by eating well, thinking well and engaging in daily spiritual practices that bring you peace and harmony. The Tarot Number 1 Major Arcana card, the Magician, reminds us of Neptune retrograde, bringing new confidence, good communication, and skillful, intelligent self development energy. Your strength of will and ability to channel your energies into achieving desired results will ensure your success.

Pluto Retrograde in Sagittarius:

Pluto is the planet of transformation, calling us to right our lives, to change what is unhealthy and unwholesome and begin to lead a clean and aesthetic life. One that involves charity and kindness and the ability to withstand the fires of purification and change. If you resist the change, you suffer. If you flow with the changes, you transform and rise like the phoenix, shining. It's as simple as that! Pluto will support and protect you when you accept the changes and move along without resistance. Or, if you resist, it will school you in the arena of hard knocks. You have no choice - you must change! You must transform! But do so not out of fear or coercion but out of maturity and willingness. Follow your intuition, be kind to all around you and help others around you go through their own transformation.
The Sagittarian energy moves you to become fit, to travel, to add adventure and new experiences to your daily routine. The High Priestess, the Number 2 card of the Major Arcana, lends energy to this aspect: she urges us to make decisions with our heart rather than our heads; she affords wisdom, guidance and foresight; and brings good judgement and self-reliance. She also reveals that which is hidden, in our hearts and souls. Truly time for a holistic spring cleaning!
