Veggietales and Bailey’s Billions - Product Review
Guest Author - Paula Petrie

Thanks to the folks at Big Honcho Media, I was turned on to the “Veggie” gang from Big Idea productions, this week. With veggietales such as, Lyle the kindly Viking, a DVD in which the merry animated vegetables, through song and story, present a lesson in sharing. Or the hilarious child’s tale about using your gifts titled, Lord of the Beans. A spoof that, through wit and charm delighted even my 13 year old, Lord of the Rings fan.

The sing along collection of Veggietale CD’s is truly awesome. Each CD has fifteen lively songs that beg you to join in. There are songs by Rack, Slack, and Benny; Dave and the Giant Pickle, and so on, singing a repertoire of old time family favorites, and new selections as well. The best part of this collection is that every CD is lively, child friendly and spiritually driven. The Pirates Boat load of Fun CD, offers up old time favorites such as Sailing, Sailing, and Row, Row, Row Your Boat. On Veggietunes you can hear great tunes such as I Love My Lips, followed by, The Lord has Given. There is even a CD titled, O Veggie, Where Art Thou?, which is a collection of old time gospel favorites like Old Time Religion, Amazing Grace, and Just a Closer Walk with Thee, sung by the animated voices of the vegetable gang.

Another offering from Big Honcho Media is the funny family movie, “Bailey’s Billions.” Following the Dr. Dolittle theme of talking to animals, Ted ( Dean Cain,) has studied animal language and is capable of talking to dogs. Ted is guardian to the golden retriever, Bailey, who inherits a billon dollars from his now deceased but devoted owner. In a madcap adventure involving incensed dog nappers and ransom, romance, child and dog detective work, and another hilarious Tim Curry performance. My kids loved Tim Curry as Casper Pennington. My 9 year old found the movie really entertaining. The older boys, not so much.

If you want to feel refreshed and renewed from the core of your being try a “geribody yoga” dvd. I was really impressed. The low key, hatha yoga, presented through breathing exercises and gentle stretches, is an achievable solace for even the most tension knotted, or ignored body. Yet, it bequeaths a wonderful outcome for the supple-bodied soul as well. It is a low energy, low calorie, high reward diversion that requires no change in apparel, nor more space then necessary for you to flop on the floor.
