IT IS NOW THE YEAR OF THE WOOD MONKEY!!!

HIGHLIGHT: MOON IN CANCER

These trends are generic to ALL people. Some are very slow aspects, such as Neptune, Uranus and Pluto retrograde - these aspects will last for at least the summer. These planetary trends reflect the energies of the Tarot beautifully. Each planet is a unique "Archetype" of its own and they move at their own pace. For instance, the large planets, eg Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, not to mention little Pluto have hardly moved at all since yesterday. The Moon on the other hand, moves swiftly through the twelve signs - it makes a full circle through all twelve during each lunar month (28 days). This reminds us of the noble energies of the Tarot, which do not tell your "fortune" but help you attune to the shifts, dynamics, and intricasies of our Universe.

Tarot Aspects for Today

Moon in Cancer

Today the Moon is in the nurturing, motherly sign of Cancer. This is a powerful placement for the Moon, who also represents strong, female energy. At this time, we all become lovers of comfort and ease. We also become changeable, versatile, and keenly emotional. If surrounded by home comforts, good food and drink, we feel friendly, sociable, imaginative, and generous. At this time, your environment plays a large part in your attitude and outlook. In fact, you are acutely sensitive to exogenous influences, and tend to adopt a kind of protective colouring from the people and places with which you associate. It makes us more conservative and domestic by nature, and fuels a love for home, family and ancestry. We feel a stronger attachment to our mothers during this transit. You are more intuitive, and are better able to express how other people think and feel. There is a strong attraction to water at this time, you will enjoy living on or vacationing by large bodies of water or traveling by ship during this moon cycle. You become more sensitive, intuitive; perhaps able to display psychic abilities. The Moon card, the Number 18 of the Major Arcana fits this energy perfectly - not just because we are talking about the Moon, but the Moon in Cancer. This card speaks of psychic ability, intuition, and deep inner emotional work. This emotional work is important - it can either free us and help us to reach epiphanies or it can drag us down into moodiness, depression or even delusion. The Moon card urges us to rely on our instincts and intuition, (not our ego) when seeking possible solutions to our problems.

Mercury and Mars Sextile Venus

Lovely Venus adds a softening feminine influence to the aspects of Mercury and Mars in Leo, both still opposite Neptune. A welcome relief from these other very yang, rather chaotic energies! Venus adds a friendly graceful energy to our communications, which helps us to "know" when to compromise in conversations and relationships in order to maintain harmony. We try to be more fair in making judgements, and to be less offensive. She helps us to express our opinions skillfully to reduce feelings of threat or intimidation. She also helps us to be more resourceful when gathering information and to back up what we say. We become less hostile and argumentative and give others the benefit of the doubt if differences of opinion arise. We all become a little more refined, gentle, easy-going, congenial and balanced. Public speaking and writing will come more easily, and an inspiring and congenial air will be used to convey information. Venus adds a freshness and an aesthetic, almost artistic flavor to our communications which helps us contend with the nebulous energy exerted by Neptune's influence in this mix. The tarot energy that resonates with this positive aspect is the Page or Princess of Coins/Pentacles which brings scholarship, creativity, application of effort, conscientiousness, and introspection. She brings good news to us all and very positive meetings with like-minded souls.

Mars Sextile Venus adds a warm affectionate air to our interactions and relationships. This aspect also lends an air of compromise, concession and non-threatening discourses which puts everyone at ease. This energy opens our eyes to the beauty around us, and encourages us to actively express our artistic aesthetic natures. We will all tend to enjoy good music, fine art, great literature, interesting social contacts and congenial friendships much more during this transit. This aspect successfully combines activity with passivity, industry with calm and helps us to balance the yin and yang energies within ourselves. The tarot energy that corresponds to this transit is the Page or Princess of Cups who represents quiet, introspective, gentle, artistic energy that can be well used in creative and interactive ventures. It speaks of people being in a position to support and help each other. This card also heralds good news, and for some - birth or marriage. New creative prospects and periods of study are also indicated.

Mercury and Mars Opposite Neptune

Nebulous Neptune adds a decidedly complex energy to the communicative and action-oriented essence of Mercury and Mars now. We will tend to find it more difficult to distinguish between the real and unreal aspects of life, and may experience a block in creative and imaginative thinking. We will all be a little more telepathic, and it is actually very positive to interact with others during this transit, in order to ground ourselves. Try not to give into feelings of inner insecurity and fears or even paranoia. People will tend to be more touchy now, so tred softly. It is important though to guard against deception and try to keep your daydreams realistic. Some will find themselves way up in the clouds as far as their achievable goals are concerned. Best to keep all communications, with others and inner "self talk" clear and straight forward. The Upright Seven of Cups resonates to this aspect, which points to the emotions associated with the unconscious and imagination, representing our hopes, desires and aspirations. It heralds a sense of confusion as to which of these represents an achievable reality and which are simply pipe-dreams. It is important that we choose the path we tred wisely, and be careful with life altering decisions.

Mars opposite Neptune adds further emphasis on relationships with others, and our inner feelings about them. This aspect brings a more compulsive and suspicious inner energy that can affect the way we interact both emotionally and sexually. It is hard to trust and have faith with this aspect prominent. A refinement in the way we assert ourselves is important and a deep soul-searching to see how much of this suspicion and apathy stems from within, rather than from others or external situations. Facing reality is necessary and an effort to achieve a realistic balance in our relationships are key to a gentle movement through this aspect. This will help to unblock the Neptune energy so that relationships can be more satisfying and balanced. Apply your intellect and common sense wisely and deeply evaluate your ambitions in life. Be careful of those who would indoctrinate you into complex "secret knowledge" sects - some will be very vulerable to the effects of these groups. The Reversed Seven of Cups resonates to this transit, indicating self-delusion and potential wrong choices. We may have an unrealistic assessment of our present circumstances. The effects of this on our life choices could be serious - it is time to ground ourselves in reality.

Mercury and Mars in Leo

Mercury in Leo brings a flair for managing, directing, or controlling others in communications, health or labour. It is a good time for those interested in achieving a responsible, prominent position in one of these areas. This aspect brings a love for children, the theatre, art and music. It also helps us to apply mental activity: you will be better able to concentrate and persevere but don't let this become a detriment to your more physical or mundane duties or endeavours. We tend to be more self - independent and casual during this transit, with a love of pleasure. At the same time, more of us will behave in a kinder and more easy going way - and will demonstrate positive and strong willed energy. Our intuitive mind and ideals will be a focus, and most of us will not allow ourselves to compromise them. During this transit you may find yourself more quick tempered and fiery, yet also more confident, determined and ambitious. Generally, our minds and willpower will be expressed in a more sympathetic, expansive and progressive ways.

Mars in Leo enhances our love for power, a sense of grandeur and our egos. Some of us will be strongly attracted to dangerous or strenuous sports, and adventures in tropical climates. We will feel more forceful, dynamic, like we have enormous creative energy, if directed in the right channels. This aspect makes us want to have above average muscular strength, and a strong heart to keep up with this surge of power. Our vitality will be high, but we will run the danger of being involved in accidents, or suffer from cuts, burns, and fevers. This will be generally a direct result of this heightened love of hazardous work or play. You will be fully able to gain the trust and confidence of superiors and will probably reach a position of authority, responsibility, trust or management, of so moved. This aspect works nicely with the Mercury in Leo energy for those in leadership roles, or those who aspire to be. Be careful if you get the urge to rush into romantic situations with no thought of the outcome. Some will be more likely to let their emotions run wild in love affairs, and will feel overwhelmingly ardent, warmhearted and passionate. We will be more generous, reasonable, liberal and enthusiastic, with a keen sense of justice, and will also like to present overwhelming arguments, yet many will be perceived as defiant, too aggressive, and forceful for their own good. Generally speaking, people will be more outgoing and friendly, affectionate and sociable. Some will also be blest with a good sense of timing and a keen judge of proper investment and speculation. This could be a lucky time for some to gamble. This is a great aspect for Government appointments and public affairs, the perfect arena for the forceful, enterprising talents that emerge during this Mars trend. People will tend to interpret all events solely in terms of themselves though, or as they affect them. The tarot energy that resonates to these two planets in Leo is the King of Cups which represents intelligent, respected, mature male energy, which succeeds in professional and authoriative pursuits. The King brings a calm, amiable personality to this transit, which hides intense feelings which are kept under tight control to prevent aggression or unbridled passion. Still these feelings are very much part of this transit and these can be used in a disciplined way to achieve one's goals. He also brings wise counsel - if we harness the intuition and inner light, we can reap any insights and create achievable plans for achievement.

Sun in Cancer

This placement of the Sun brings forth energy that reflects the Mother, the Carer, the Psychic, the Counselor, and the Protector. Key energies for this 30 day transit are Sensitivity, Sympathy, and Affection. This is a very emotional and sensitive time when we are more apt to be ruled by our feelings, we become more deep and vulnerable. Some will put up a protective shell of shyness or reserve to hide this great sensitivity and feelings of inner caution. We will tend to withdraw to gather strength. We will also feel more sympathetic and kind, with a strong need to nurture, and many will assume the role of the parent, caregiver, or therapist in all kinds of relationships. Many will exhibit an extremely strong protective streak and will defend their loved ones against all odds. Home and family play a big part in this transit, and become the focus of our need for identity and security. Our moods will fluctuate like the tide, yet we will be naturally affectionate, and some can smother others with their protective love and devotion. This transit also causes some to be shy and sentimental, and to hang onto the past for too long. At this time, we may appear to be a tower of strength, but on the other hand, act like a vulnerable child. This is a time when people will be masters at the art of passive resistance. It is also a time to be naturally intuitive and mediumistic, and we can be easily hurt. Our powerful imaginations and sensitive understandings can be expressed delightfully through the creative and artistic worlds. Above all, we will need to trust someone enough to show our feelings, this trust helps us to express energy that is strong, loyal, and protective. The tarot energy that reflects this transit is the Queen of Cups who represents strong, sensitive, mature female energy, full of intuition, affection and insight. She brings receptive energy and puts us in touch with our inner selves where we can tap our will-power in more subtle ways. She helps both women and men become attuned to their inner female side, and help us to open to all of life's emotions.

Uranus is Retrograde in Pisces

Uranus goes retrograde about once a year for up to five months, this time it is retro until November 11th. This transit often spurs a change in our personality - if we are normally outgoing and sociable, we may find ourselves becoming more introspective and subdued; or vice versa. Uranus is the planet of sudden unexpected events - these events become more internal when this large slow-moving planet goes backwards. For those who are devoted to self-improvement, this transit can be an eye-opener, urging us to examine the foundations of our beliefs and values and seeing the world through "new eyes." We become more open to new ways to do things and to live our lives. For those who resist change, this internal processing can feel awkward and unsettling, it is best to relax and allow yourself to experience the subtle inner shifts and digesting. This is also a favorable transit for those working with technology, cutting-edge research and inventions, and any pursuit that would usually be deemed unconventional. In fact, paranormal activity will be heightened during this aspect, bringing prophetic dreams, visions, stronger intuition, stronger healing powers, and breakthroughs in connecting with our guides and Higher Self - if we open ourselves to the prevailing energy. The Tarot card that reflects this energy is the Hermit who guides us to stand back and assess our situation in an introspective way. He also encourages us to find inner balance by seeking periods of solitude to process our internal changes. We need to stand back from situations, even remove ourselves physically from them so we can objectively evaluate our circumstances. He strongly focuses on the need for quiet inner reflection, where we can assess our true needs and aims, free from everyday pressures. By searching deep within ourselves in this way, we will find the solutions to long-term directions in life and any outstanding difficulties.

Jupiter Sextile Saturn

Jupiter and Saturn are now close to 60 degrees apart putting them in Sextile to one another. This interaction adds the energy of readily available information and heightened comprehension. You will find the knowledge that you seek more easily, and know what to do with it, even if it seems useless to others. During this transit, it is easier to plan events, and our creative ideas will flow more freely. Enthusiasm and optimism grow during this aspect, it will be easier to believe in yourself yet in a grounded way: we will acknowledge that it takes hard work to accomplish our cherished goals. We will look for new avenues of expression, and be more determined to grow to our highest potential. Ethics will be high: most of us will not be happy if we resort to manipulative tactics to advance ourselves. Honesty and sincerity are the keys to succeeding now. The tarot card that reflects this positive aspect is the Nine of Cups which heralds a period of well-being, contentment and happiness, one in which a range of personal wishes can manifest. Creativity is favored at this time, and past efforts will now reap rewards as projects move towards a satisfactory conclusion. We all have much to enjoy and we will wish to share it with those who are less fortunate.

Neptune Retrograde in Aquarius:

When Neptune is retrograde it is time to build up your strength and resistance both physically and spiritually. It is the perfect time to engage in healthy and healing past times such as meditation, fitness activities, healing sessions, chakra work, being out in nature especially water, gardening, walking, visiting a spa, going on vacation to a relaxing secluded place and so on. A perfect time too to learn and practice Eastern philosophies and exercises or First Nations rituals. The Aquarian energy urges you to think of the future and of humanitarian causes. Neptune retrograde brings the danger of infections, allergy distress and being more susceptible to bacteria, viri and the like. Boost your immune system with vitamins, herbs, chakra work, homeopathy and such. Natural medicines work better now than traditional ones. Watch out for poisons and pesticides at this time. Remember you are responsible for your own health. Feed your body, your mind, your spirit with positive nutrients by eating well, thinking well and engaging in daily spiritual practices that bring you peace and harmony. The Tarot Number 1 Major Arcana card, the Magician, reminds us of Neptune retrograde, bringing new confidence, good communication, and skillful, intelligent self development energy. Your strength of will and ability to channel your energies into achieving desired results will ensure your success.

Pluto Retrograde in Sagittarius:

Pluto is the planet of transformation, calling us to right our lives, to change what is unhealthy and unwholesome and begin to lead a clean and aesthetic life. One that involves charity and kindness and the ability to withstand the fires of purification and change. If you resist the change, you suffer. If you flow with the changes, you transform and rise like the phoenix, shining. It's as simple as that! Pluto will support and protect you when you accept the changes and move along without resistance. Or, if you resist, it will school you in the arena of hard knocks. You have no choice - you must change! You must transform! But do so not out of fear or coercion but out of maturity and willingness. Follow your intuition, be kind to all around you and help others around you go through their own transformation.

The Sagittarian energy moves you to become fit, to travel, to add adventure and new experiences to your daily routine. The High Priestess, the Number 2 card of the Major Arcana, lends energy to this aspect: she urges us to make decisions with our heart rather than our heads; she affords wisdom, guidance and foresight; and brings good judgement and self-reliance. She also reveals that which is hidden, in our hearts and souls. Truly time for a holistic spring cleaning!
