Let your vehicle Be The Best It Can Be

Let your vehicle Be The Best It Can Be
I have had people tell me that they think all the articles on auto polishing and detailing are great. Sometimes people just do not have time to read all of them and sometimes...many times...they simply cannot remember what they need to know for the present moment. So, this particular article covers what to do NOW... to have get your vehicle to be the best it can be!

The first step, of course, is to wash the vehicle to get rid of all the major dirt on the vehicle. Using a car wash like Meguiar's will give you the best clean for your money. Make sure you do a good job here so that it will be really clean for application of the polishing and detailing products you will use.

The next step, If you want the vehicle to be the best it can be, is to clean the paint. And one of the best and safest products for this is Mequiar's Cleaner Wax. This product is sold in many auto parts and supplies stores and numerous discount outlets. I have found it cheapest at Wal-Mart. If you wonder why you need to use this particular product, perhaps you can relate to using bleach in your wash, to get white products WHITE! Washing your vehicle gets is clean-ER, but cleaning the paint will get it as CLEAN as can be, and I mean CLEAN, to the point the exterior is free from most particles and blemishes that washing cannot or will not remove.

I clean the paint on my own vehicle or a vehicle I am doing professionally for someone else, using a DAMP SPONGE OR WHITE TERRY TOWEL and put the product ON THE SPONGE OR TOWEL--not on the vehicle, to apply it. There are reasons I do it that way--putting the product on the sponge, rather than the vehicle--and I will explain that in a future article. If this is your first time, do a little section at a time, then wipe it off with a dry, soft rag, preferably a terry-cloth towel. For those of us who are experienced, you will find that you can apply it to the entire vehicle. Not only will this save you time, but as you are wiping the cleaner off, you will see your true color reveal itself! The paint cleaner, by the way, is one of the best glass cleaners I have ever seen or if you prefer, Armor All makes a mean auto glass cleaner and the price is right! Once the paint has been cleaned, then you can apply the wax or polish. And there is a lot of confusion as to the difference between waxes and polishes. I have had a lot of people ask me which products are best, and will this or that work, etc. And the answer may not always be what you want. In future articles I will cover the different supplies on the market and what I feel will work best for you. But if you have found a product you feel is pretty good and it works pretty well, and you are comfortable with using it, perhaps it will work well for you to make your vehicle be the best it can be, once you have cleaned the paint! It all depends on several factors, which I will cover in different articles.

You have now washed the vehicle and cleaned the paint and you are ready to apply the final coat, which is the wax or polish. So which one do you use? Do you use a wax? Do you use a polish? Which ones not only do a good job, but last longer? And the questions can go on and on, and I will cover all these in future articles. For now, pick out one product you feel is the best you can find that you feel will work well, look good, and last longer. One recommendation, if you are unsure and cannot decide, is a Meguiar's Tech Wax! It is the only one I prefer for my work--Turtle Wax Platinum Series is a CLOSE second. You can find them both and others at Wal-Mart and most auto stores or discount chains.

Always remember one basic thing: the cost of the product does not determine how good the product is! Just becuase a product is expensive or costs more does not mean that it is better than the other products you can use. BUT, many times, the old saying applies: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

I believe this is enough for now and hope this works well for you so that your vehicle can be the best it can be! If you have problems, or you are not satisfied that these procedures have made your vehicle look better, let me know and I will try to help solve your problem or problems.

Until next time, have a shiny day!
