Designing English Gardens
Many people love the idea of an English garden, but they're not sure how to go about creating one. So, Iíve pulled together the essential columns Iíve written on this topic, and published them in an e-book that you can easily download to your own computer. This gives you an easy reference to consult as you work on creating an English garden.
The e book, titled How to Design an English Garden, starts with a description of English garden style and the history of English gardening. Itís really helpful to understand the development of English gardens before you start your own.
Youíll also learn how to plan a lush English border, and how to use roses in your garden.
The English gardens I like best usually have enclosed walls - whether it's a brick wall or a living wall like a beech or yew hedge. And somewhere inside that enclosed garden will be at least one inviting seating area. The e-book discusses several examples of these important features.
We also review one of the most essential elements of an English garden: the focal point. You'll learn what to use as a focal point and where to place it for the best effect.
Create an inviting entrance to your English garden with an archway or pergola. Or cover your seating area with a lovely arbor. The e-book makes it easy to learn how to do this.
Youíll get a list of the top ten plants every English garden must have, as well as a seasonal blooming list.
Then weíll take all of these elements and learn how to design a front entry.
Finally, I share my favorite English gardens with you. Whenever you travel to England, I highly recommend that you visit some of these gardens so you can be inspired to take home the best ideas to use in your own garden design.
Itís easy to buy the e-book through Bellaonline. You can download it to your own computer so youíll have it forever. You can also print it out if you like. Then youíll have a permanent record to refer to any time you want to make changes in your garden.
