Dreaming about your childhood is a sign that you are not feeling ready for or are tired of adult responsibilities. Our lives today can be stressful and most of us must continually strive to balance work and play.
Interpreting these symbols depends upon personal meaning, your stage of development and what's going on in waking life. Dreaming of a favorite toy from childhood may be a symbol of security or your desire to return to the carefree days of childhood. What are you missing lately? Are you working so hard that you are losing precious time with your family? Is it a temporary situation, or do you need to consider changing careers because your company is too demandng? Remember, your time is their money. Is it really worth it? While we all wish for comfortable retirement, how comfortable will it really be if you're too ill to enjoy it? Money is status and can buy nice things, but have you ever seen a hearse with a luggage rack? It may be time to re-evaluate your goals.
If you are progressing to another stage of life, either in age or a rite of passage such as marriage, you may be struggling with taking on more responsibility. Your dream may simply represent normal anxiety, or it may be a signal to slow down and take more time to prepare yourself for the transition or to look at whether this is what you really want.
What kind of toy are you playing with? Look at whether this symbolizes hidden feelings or desires. Playing with dolls may suggest a desire to have children. Playing with toy cars may represent the desire for a toy in the form of a new car. You may deserve one! I once had a supervisor who always said, "Buy the clothes, buy the car. You work hard! No one else is going to give it to you."
Toys may also be a pun for toying with someone's affections or mind. If someone else is playing with the toy, they may be toying with you.
