Bird Identification by Color
If you only know the color of a bird, here is how to identify it based on that information. These birds are divided up by the main color of their feathers.

Red Birds
Red birds include the cardinal, red finch, and flamingos (which are pink). The red-winged blackbird has red stripes on its black body. Robins have red breasts.

Orange Birds
The oriole is the best known orange bird.

Yellow Birds
Yellow birds include the goldfinch, siskin, and flickers.

Green Birds
Strangely, green is an unusual color in birds, even though who live in grasslands. Only a few birds have green feathers.

Blue Birds
Of course the bluebird heads this list, as well as blue jays.

Purple Birds
While the purple finch should be purple, it is more reddish than purple.

Grey Birds
The catbird is a greyish bird that is robin-sized.

Black Birds
The blackbird is black, as is the raven and crow. Vultures also have black bodies.

Brown Birds
Many birds are brown, as this color helps them to blend in with their surroundings. Most game birds and ducks are brown, as are finches.

White Birds
Seagulls and eagles are white in color.
