Reno 911! - Miami

Reno’s finest made the jump from their hit Comedy Central TV show to the big screen in “Reno 911!: Miami”. When the nation’s police departments are invited to a convention in Miami, the Reno sheriff’s department, which consists of Lieutenant Dangle (Lennon), Trudy Wiegel (Kenney), Junior (Garant), Garcia (Alazraqui), Jones (Yarbrough), Raineesha Williams (Nash) and Kimball (Birdsong), are excited to go. That excitement wears off when they have to make the trip by bus!
After they arrive in Miami, things go from bad to worse for the Reno officers when they’re not allowed admittance into the conference. Worse yet, they soon find themselves staying at a hotel that most roaches would run from! That’s not the end of their plight, however.
Determined to get into the conference, the team shows up at the convention center the next day. However, they soon discover that the entire building and everyone inside has been quarantined because of a biohazard attack. What does that mean? The Reno sheriff’s department is the only law enforcement available to patrol the streets of Miami.
They have their work cut out for them just trying to manage the 9-1-1 telephone system, not to mention a report of an alligator in a backyard swimming pool, a beached whale and Ethan (Rudd), a paranoid drug dealer. We won’t even mention their constant run-ins with each other. Will the Reno team be able to save the city and themselves as well as find out who the mastermind is behind the biohazard/terror plot?
Fans of the “Reno 911” TV show will not be disappointed with this action/comedy. The team is in rare form, thanks, in part, to the movie being uncensored. Unlike the TV show, there are no “bleeps” in this one!
There were plenty of action sequences. Some of my particular favorites were the opening scene with the Reno team supposedly being flown in to deal with a hostage crisis, which turns out to be a dream. There’s also the golf cart chase at the end when the team is in hot pursuit of the main “bad guy”. Also look for a cameo appearance by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as a commando type that involves a hand grenade. That’s all I’ll say about that one!
My only complaint about the movie would have to be the length. At just under an hour and a half, it seemed just like an extra long episode.
