Rachel Ray and Paula Deen Cook Up Wealth

Guest Author - Sharon Michaels

Rachel Ray and Paula Deen are two women who share a love of food and a burning desire to cook. They are two women on a mission and making millions. These self-made wealthy women have turned their passion for food into entertainment empires. Rachel and Paula are literally cooking up wealth!

I’ve read many stories about self-made wealthy women and none fascinate me more than reading about Food Network stars Rachel Ray and Paula Dean. I believe there are many lessons we can learn from these two financially savvy self-made women.

Here are some common traits I’ve discovered about both Rachel and Paula and they seem to apply to other self-made wealthy women as well.

1. Necessity – Often necessity brings out creativity, persistence and tenacity. Here’s what I’ve read about both Rachel Ray and Paula Deen.

Rachel Ray – Deciding in her early twenties to leave the family home in upstate New York and strike out on her own in New Your City Rachel learned quickly to put her passion for food into action. Her first job in the Big Apple was behind the counter of the candy section at Macy’s. Rachel food career began simply but on the right track.

Paula Deen – Paula’s story is a bit more compelling. For years Paula suffered panic attacks and would not leave her house. When she divorced and found herself with $200 in her pocket, she knew she had to conquer her fears and make a living for her yourself and her two sons. From that day on, Paula’s ability to see the bigger picture has never wavered.

2. Attitude – Attitude is everything! You can either see your wealth journey as exciting or discouraging. Both of these women seem to live each day with an attitude of thankfulness and “bring on the next challenge.”

Rachel Ray – If you’ve ever seen Rachel, you understand why her attitude has been a powerful factor in attracting the success she enjoys today. She has fun! The challenge of creating new and exciting food dishes, books and television programs motivate her to thrive and succeed. In fact, EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) has been officially added into the Oxford American College Dictionary.

Paula Deen – From all I’ve read about Paula, she was very focused on growing her business and not allowing anything to distract her. Her family was her motivation to succeed. She’s been quoted as saying, “I would never give up.” She too has an attitude of gratitude and love of life. Have you ever heard her laugh, it’s infectious!

3. Passion – Passion is the glue that holds dreams together. No matter the obstacles, passion for your life’s mission is a powerful and strong motivating factor. Most self-made women are passionate about their careers, professions and life’s mission. Passion for life seems to be a common thread among self-made wealthy people.

Rachel Ray – Rachel definitely has passion! She says cooking is in her blood. She learned her love of food from her maternal grandfather and her father’s Cajun family. Rachel spent her life around good food. Rachel is best known for making food quick and delicious. Rachel’s passion extends to television, magazines, books, appliances and linens, where her passion has become very profitable.

Paula Deen - Paula grew up around good and comfortable “Southern” cooking. Her grandmother and aunt taught her how to cook “Southern.” She truly appreciates the love and sense of family that food brings to the dinner table and, she shares that love with her audiences. Paula’s excitement about good Southern food has enabled her to live her life’s passion in so many ways - books, television, magazines and restaurants. In fact, in 1999 Paula’s Savannah restaurant, Lady & Sons, was named “International Meal of the Year” by USA Today.

What does all of this have to do with Abundance and Wealth? There seems to be an undeniable pattern among successful self-made wealthy women. Studying their successes shows us that there’s nothing mysterious about creating wealth. Look at the successes of Rachel Ray and Paula Deen – motivating isn’t it?

I think you’ll enjoy reading the autobiography of Paula Deen – here’s a link to Amazon.com – Paula Deen - It Ain't All About The Cookin'
