When you think about it being month six of the year, it can be very overwhelming. As you begin to prepare for the second half of the year, you should assess your Ezine or Newsletter. It’s time to decide what you will focus on for the remainder of the year. The year goes so fast, so it’s important to plan.
Niche or Target Audience
As you look to the remainder of the year, are there specific days or items that you want to focus on? Depending on where your focus is for your ezine or newsletter, you may find that there are upcoming events that you have to include for your readers. If your Newsletter focused on gardening, you may give tips on what to plant throughout the summer and then how to prepare lawns and gardens for the colder months. Real estate Ezines may focus on buying your home now while there are incentives and lower interest rates. Having a good idea of what you will cover or beginning to think about it will help you remember to cover key items
Goals for Ezines or Newsletters
Is your Ezine or Newsletter a start up? Assess how you did for the first two quarters. Did you increase your readership as planned? Was it better on certain months than others? There may be several things going on. As long as your marketing remained the same, it may have been the content you covered. Look back to see what worked well and where your un-subscribers came in. Did you quickly put together an Ezine and experienced a decline in your readership? You may attribute this to the content.
Marketing Budget and Goals
If you are lucky enough to have a marketing budget, assess how well you did for the first half of the year. Did you market effectively? Once you sent your Ezine out, did you see a lot of people actually reading the document and new readers signing up? Thinking about these things may not give you a definitive answer but it may get you to plan better for the coming months. Those without the marketing budget will need to assess the need for one or if they can continue their grassroots efforts. There is plenty of ways to market freely but it does take some time and effort.
2nd Half of the Year
Once you have assessed your document, you are ready for the remainder of the year. It goes quickly. Make sure you take time to review. You may be able to save yourself from continuing to make costly mistakes. In addition, if something is working well, play on that as a positive part of Ezine and Newsletter and add to it.
