Week Thirty-Two of Pregnancy - 32nd Week
Guest Author - Angela England

How Your Baby Grows During the Thirty-Second Week

Your baby is now more than 16 inches long in total length with a crown-to-rump length of over 11 1/2 inches. She is almost 4 pounds now and will continue to grow quickly in the next few weeks. Her fat reserves are being added and filling out her little arms and legs. Instead of being skinny and wrinkled looking, she will be a lovely, plump little girl.

If she were born now she would be very likely to survive, but would likely need help breathing. She would spend times in an incubator and need assistance eating and breathing.

What the Mother Feels During the Thirty-Second Week

Your uterus is almost 5 inches above the top of navel. You may feel your uterus is as high as it's going to get, but it will continue to expand outward, and slightly upward, over the next few weeks. By now, your bellybutton may be gone - no longer dented inwards. It could even be flat, or pop outwards in the next couple weeks.

Many women suddenly realize about this time that they are just a couple months from having a baby and may begin to feel slightly panicked. Suddenly that far off date is not so far off. You may be realizing there is still a lot of items you need for the baby, but many of these can be purchased ahead of time to lessen the cost when the baby is born.

This is also a time many women get baby showers given to them, which can help lessen the strain of new baby purchases. You might wonder what the etiquette is for baby showers - this article has some baby shower etiquette tips to help.
