Snow Dream Symbol
Like every other dream symbol, snow does not represent a single meaning. Every symbol is multi-faceted depending on the conditions in the particular dream. Because snow is essentially water which symbolizes emotions, the appearance of snow often depicts a "freezing" of emotions. Some Freudian dream interpreters say that this indicates frigidity (sexually) but this is far too simplistic a definition.
Snow is not always a negative symbol. When you think about snow, it indicates winter, a time when animals hibernate in cozy dens, so the dream snow can represent a hibernation of human emotion. There can be a protective element to snow just as there is a time and season for everything. Some sleeping emotions (inhibitions, fears, resentments) may be waiting for the right time to resurface.
As always, consider your feelings that this dream snow brings as well as all the other contextual dream symbols. Here are some specific dream interpretations for the snow dream symbol:
Pure white snow. A spiritual scene or period in time. Light snow indicates a certain amount of introspection, cocooning. A time of going within.
Gently falling snow. A spiritual cleansing. Purity.
Snow-covered mountains. Depending upon the other dream symbols, these can represent towering obstacles in the dreamer's life that have an element of coldness of emotion. They can be people or situations. Yet, if the dream feeling is positive, they can indicate a sense of majesty and protection in the dreamer's life such as distant supporters. Inspiration. Goals.
Climbing a snow-covered mountain. Reaching a lofty goal.
Playing in the snow. Is this dream bringing back happy childhood memories? Is the dreamer happier not facing or dealing with heated emotions? This symbol appears when the dreamer believes that ignorance is bliss or that keeping distant or detached relationships is carefree.
Snow-covered chalet. A small refuge of safety and comfort.
Snow-covered pine tree. This represents a time of waiting. There is life still in the tree, and the frigidity of the snow is temporary.
Tree killed by the frost. Dreamer feels that his life is threatened by the coldness (withholding of emotions) that comes from him or others in his life.
Making a snow angel. This symbol represents innocence and purity or the desire for such by not acknowledging sexual or other feelings.
Snow is melting. The time is coming for the dreamer to begin to allow himself to feel more emotional. A new season of life is upon him.
Path or journey blocked by snow.Being unable to progress due to repressed emotions either of the dreamer or others in his waking life.
Lost in the snow. Being overwhelmed and confused, not being able to make progress due to unexpressed emotions masking one's direction.
Avalanche. Threat of harm from immense, repressed emotions.
Blizzard. Negative and unpleasant conditions. Being left out of something ("out in the cold.")
Wolves in the snow.Making it hard for enemies to attack by burying one's emotions. Being impervious to harm by outsiders by becoming cold or unfeeling.
A lone wolf in the snow. Standing alone in an unfeeling environment.
A bear out in the snow instead of hibernating. Emotions are being forced to surface at the wrong time. Results can be undesirable.
Riding a horse through snow. If the horse is able to travel, this dream symbol indicates that the dreamer will make progress on his journey despite a cold emotional state. If the horse is stuck, the dreamer's unwillingness to melt his cold or frozen emotions prevents him from moving onward.
Urinating in the snow.Rejecting one's own repressed emotions or disrespecting the coldness of others.
Dirty snow.Impurity. Something unsavory about repressed memories or emotion.
Animal tracks in the snow. Consider the type of animal that is making these tracks. Those animal traits are attempting to make their marks upon the dreamer's psyche.
Blood on snow. Trying in vain to appeal to a cold-hearted person. Feeling as though one is losing his life to uncovering frigid or repressed emotions. Where did this blood come from?
"Pure as snow." Virginity, non-sexual.
"Snow job." Confusing someone to deceive him.
"Snowed under." Being overwhelmed.
