The Complete Book of Tatting
Guest Author - Gillian Buchanan

picture of The Complete Book of TattingThis lovely book, published by Rebecca Jones in 1985, is one of the best technique books published in the mid 1980s and even today it is a valuable reference. It is aimed at the complete beginner and also at the developing tatter and as such covers a wide range of beginner to intermediate tatting techniques, giving a solid grounding in the art of tatting so that any tatter would enjoy it and would learn a great deal from it. Indeed when I was studying for my Lace Guild Assessments some years ago this book was one of my major sources for patterns and techniques.

It is further enhanced by a huge collection of patterns suitable for the beginner to intermediate level tatter, ranging from edgings, motifs, tatted bookmarks and crosses to decorations for notepaper and for your Christmas tree and cards. There is even a full tatted alphabet. In addition, six different methods of tatting are included so that if you can't follow one you are sure to be able to learn from one of the others! Patterns are in diagrammatical format.

The Complete Book of Tatting can be ordered from Amazon.com via the link.
