There may be only 40 recipes in Cookie Classics Made Easy, but those 40 recipes are ones that everyone will want to make. Scalise has taken cookie recipes from the past, updated and simplified the instructions, and added some new recipes that are quite easy as well. Cookie Baking will never be the same.
Not only has Scalise come up with clever names for some of the delectable cookies, but the instructions are short and concise; she skips unnecessary steps, and makes it so that anyone, from novice baker to experienced baker can easily follow the recipes and turn out scrumptious cookies that look exactly like the pictures. There is something for everyone here: cookies using oats, dried fruits, and nuts; much-loved classic cookies such as chocolate chippers, soft cookies, crisp cookies, chewy cookies, and crumbly cookies. There is a chapter called Chocolate Love with enough mouthwatering recipes to keep bakers happy for weeks. Who can resist baking a cookie called Apples Rolled in Autumn (worth the extra exercise to avoid putting on five pounds), or Winter in the Berkshires, or Caramel by the Sea. Not only has Scalise come up with incredible cookie recipes, she has an imagination and good writing skills to make this a book that readers will turn to over and over.
Before presenting the recipes, Scalise gives advice on ingredients, and also the equipment she uses to guarantee perfect results. Every recipe followed to date has turned out perfectly, and cookie baking in my house is now almost a daily occurrence. All told, Cookie Classics Made Easy is a cookie book that belongs in everyone’s collection.
