XBox and PlayStation 2 Prices Drop

Looking to get a new console, to keep yourself entertained in the coming summer months? It's definitely the time to buy! Two days after the Sony Playstation 2 dropped its prices, Microsoft followed suit and has brought the price of the XBox down by a full $100. Both gaming systems are now priced at $200.
Nintendo's Game Cube remains at $250, and Nintendo has not announced any plans to change that.
NOTE: This historical article was written in May 2002. In current times, of course, you could probably find these gaming systems for MUCH cheaper on eBay, if you're looking to get your hands on an older system to play your older, beloved games on!
Alternatively, you can get a new XBox 360, PS3 or Nintendo Wii that has backwards compatibility. Just be cautious - none of those systems are 100% backwards compatible. There are always some games that just don't play well on the new hardware.
