Many thanks to Erin Holloway for sharing this square medallion with the online tatting class and tatting at BellaOnline.com. This will be an excellent motif to be repeated to create a large doily, table runner, table cloth or even bedspread! You might even make it in multiple colors to emulate a granny's square afghan! You will be able to tat this in one pass, if you make the last chain a split chain climbing out into round two with a split ring. Pay attention to the side picots on the first four cloverleaf motifs. Gauge the length of them so that they do NOT overlap.

The joining picots of the cloverleaf motifs should be tight and the one picot on the stem of the cloverleaf should be miniscule to allow a very snug join will let the chains lay flat side by side.
